All students must meet the requirements (including passing the assessments) for the program within which they started. They cannot take some courses under the existing FMP program and complete the remaining courses under
the revised FMP program.

Please  contact us at the Seattle IFMA Chapter with any additional questions.
Anyone who purchases the full FMP kit from now through July 31 will be able to complete the program within the standard allotted timeframe. As noted, students completing courses individually must purchase any outstanding modules by July 31.

About the changes to the FMP Program coming August 31, 2019:

As part of IFMA's ongoing process to keep IFMA credentials relevant, a practice analysis for the Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) was recently completed. Based on the Global Job Task Analysis, this review identified the core knowledge, skills and abilities all emerging facility professionals need to have to lead and align their facility operations with organizational objectives. Although the study determined that, overall, IFMA's content in these four areas remains highly relevant, it also identified opportunities to further enhance the courses.
IFMA will be releasing the updated materials and program in September 2019.

Call For Volunteers!
IFMA started working with UW Professional & Continuing Education and BOMA to build a long-term strategy for cultivating the pipeline of facility managers in order to meet the growing needs of the workforce.

Our next step will be to establish a working group with key stakeholders in the region. This collaboration is still in the early stages but if you are interested in joining this working group please email Bob Tribo at [email protected].

ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager - Updates

Ask the Expert Webinars

Every other Wednesday at 9:00 AM PST, the EPA offers Portfolio Manager "Ask the Expert", a live webinar that gives users an opportunity to ask their questions directly to EPA experts in an open forum.

Wonder if you have set up your space uses correctly? Want to talk to a "real" person and get an answer in real time? Have a question about how Portfolio Manager calculates your ENERGY STAR score? Register for an "Ask the Expert" webinar session. All user levels are welcome.

ENERGY STAR® Certification Resumed

EPA has resumed ENERGY STAR® Certification for eligible warehouses, distribution centers, hotels, K-12 schools, and worship facility property types. Buildings must have a minimum ENERGY STAR® score of 75 to be eligible.

For more details, read the FAQ on changes to certification rules.

Cohort III (70,000 SF - 99,999 SF)
Now is the time to start planning- Alternative Compliance requests are due by April 1, 2020, six months in advance of the Tune-Up deadline (October 1, 2020).

Building Tune-Ups Online Portal - Tips
The City of Seattle now requires electronic submission of Tune-Up Summary Reports, Alternative Compliance, Waivers, and Extension Requests via the   Seattle Services Portal . To assist customers through this new process, the Tune-Ups team has developed guidance and instructional materials to trouble shoot errors you may have in the application process.

Helpful Tips:

Claiming a Building -Claiming a building is required before any Tune-Ups or Alternative Compliance requests can be submitted. This step is required to associate applications with the proper building and serves as account management to add/remove relevant building contacts to the record. Claim codes are provided in notification letters sent from the City.

Tune-Up Specialist Registration -Tune-Up Specialists are required to create an account in the Seattle Services Portal and submit a registration to the City for approval to complete Tune-Ups. Once approved, they must be added as a contact to the Claim Record before they can proceed to start and submit a Tune-Up.

Submitting an Amendment-Amendments are the process of making changes to a Tune-Up or Alternative Compliance application when the City needs more information to proceed with the application review. You will be notified via email by the City if changes are required. Once you complete the changes and submit an Amendment, the changes will roll-up to the original application.
