Saving Monkeys ~ Promoting Compassion!
Dear Friend of Jungle Friends,
February 23, 2020
Yup, another year older, and wiser...maybe?

What I am wise to is the monkeys REALLY prefer to stay locked in their homes during hurricane threats, rather than caught and put into lab cages. There's no place like home!

Will you help me do something about this in honor of my Birthday?
I know you care deeply about the monkeys -- which is why I am writing to you today.

When monkeys who were in research are put back into a lab cage, you can see the look of despair on their faces, resignation -- this is called "learned helplessness". When monkeys who were not in experiments are put into lab cages, they are angry, bashing toys against the cage -- demanding release.

After witnessing these two behaviors, I prefer to see the anger and determination to figure a way out, rather than despair and helplessness.

Emerald City
The smaller monkeys all have indoor enclosures in climate-controlled buildings with runways to their outdoor habitats. Sliding doors make it possible to lock them inside during severe weather.

Giving the monkeys choice allows them the freedom to be inside or out -- in their own time and on their own terms.

Please help us create more choice!

Jody's Wellness Jungle and Hospice Care
These special-needs monkeys also have access via runway to their outdoor habitats. We have other buildings this size with two larger indoor enclosures. The plan is to replace the old with the new (shown above), which will then accommodate five enclosures vs two -- more monkeys inside -- there's no place like home!
The Cottage
Max has one of the new enclosures in the Cottage with access to his outdoor habitat. He is waiting for more friends to join him.
We are in the process of installing 2 new enclosures in the Cottage across from the kitchen, bathroom and Max.
Please consider a substantial donation toward this most important project and make this my happiest birthday ever!
