 Mother Megan's last Sunday
This Sunday is Mother Megan's final Sunday as Associate Rector of St. Paul's. Soon, she will winging her way northward to the Fingerlakes district of New York to serve as Rector of St. John's Parish in Ithaca. We will honor her with a reception following the 10:30 service and encourage all of you to be here for her final sermon and Eucharist.

Lenten opportunities
In addition to the Tuesday & Thursday noonday Holy Eucharists, we will add a
Wednesday evening Holy Eucharist in the Chancel of the Church at 6:15 on Wednesday evenings. Fr. Jonathan will be offering this liturgy on each Wednesday of Lent, Feb 21-March 21.
EfM and the Rector will be providing daily meditations each day of Lent. These will be posted daily, Monday-Saturday, at about 6 a.m., through the blog site
St. Paul's Sunday Morning and will also post on our parish
Facebook Page each day.
Acts in Action
has assembled packs of blank postcards for your use, if you would like to take on the challenge of writing to your Member of Congress during Lent. Just take a pack, fill your postcards with the thoughts you'd like to share, address them just by name, and drop the completed postcard in the offering plate at church. The postcards will be hand-delivered to local offices each month for you! Embrace a new spiritual discipline this Lent!

Episcopal Church teams with ecumenical partners for
2018 Poor People's Campaign:
A National Call for Moral Revival
[Friday, February 23, 2018] In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Poor People's Campaign organized by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1968, the Episcopal Church is teaming with ecumenical partners including the National Council of Churches into action, ministry, and official relationship with the
2018 Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.
The Episcopal Church Executive Council approved a resolution at its January meeting "acknowledging the unfinished work of the 1968 Poor Peoples Campaign, celebrate the revival of the movement as the 2018 Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival."
The resolution concluded that the Poor People's Campaign will "recognize these issues of poverty and justice severely affect our domestic and global brothers and sisters and commit to ministry of active engagement, advocacy, and support throughout the Episcopal Church."
"This is an important partnership and we are enthused that the Episcopal Church is teaming with others in this important initiative," commented the Rev. Melanie Mullen, Director of Reconciliation, Justice and Creation Care. "The work of the Episcopal Church through General Convention and Executive Council fully embodies the values of the gospel that underlie the Jesus Movement."
For Episcopalians and the Episcopal Church, the goals of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival are:
* To live into our partnerships with the National Council of Churches and with the Poor People's Campaign;
* To rally Episcopalians on the issues of poverty and justice;
* To ask for consideration in joining marches occurring nationally on April 4, the anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Sunday, May 13, Mother's Day;
* To encourage all interested Episcopalians to sign up

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry calls for Good Friday Offering to support ministry in Anglican Province of Jerusalem & Middle East

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I greet you in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am writing to you in preparation for Holy Week and the focus of that week on our Lord's sacrificial offering of love on the cross.
The Good Friday Offering is one way we in the Episcopal Church help to support the ongoing ministry of love and compassion carried out by our Anglican sisters and brothers throughout the Province of Jerusalem and Middle East.
Whether funding an eye clinic in Aden or women's programs, schools and medical services in the West Bank, the Good Friday Offering is making a difference in the lives of so many. I believe our partnership with those who keep the faith of Jesus alive in the region where our Lord walked and began his movement is a significant aspect of our work as part of the church catholic.
I hope you will participate in this effort. Thank you for considering this important witness to the love of Jesus across our Church and in the Holy Land.

Christian Formation
Sunday: ADULT FORMATION this Sunday. We continue
the reflection on "Becoming the Beloved Community" at 9:30 in the EfM room on the third floor.
Children's continue at 10:20 on the third floor in the rooms next to the kitchen.
Join us for the next installment of Acts and Action, as we move to reading Jeremiah at our new meeting date and time: Wednesdays at 7:30 pm on the third floor.
Acts and Action is a small group dedicated to the spiritual discipline of being engaged citizens.
We meet weekly to read scripture, share our concerns and plan how we may live faithfully in the world as both engaged citizens and members of the body of Christ.

This week's anthem was written by the most famous English composer of the early Baroque era. Henry Purcell lived and worked in London and was the organist at the Chapel Royal and at Westminster Abbey where he wrote a large number of sacred pieces of music. He wrote this week's anthem for the funeral of Queen Mary II, and it was also sung one year later at his own funeral. The poetry comes from the Anglican Burial service. The music is somber but also hopeful as you can see and hear in this recording.

Sunday Mail Ministry
In these tumultuous times, more people than ever before are reaching out to their members of Congress and other elected officials. Indeed, this is part of our calling as followers of Jesus in the world--to engage with the powers that be to make for a better world for all God's creation. Each Sunday, the members of Acts and Action will have a table set aside during Coffee Hour where you can write a postcard to your selected elected official, and write whatever you wish to convey: I agree, I disagree, I'm praying for you, etc. Acts and Action will then deliver them by hand to the local offices of KCMO reps on the final Friday of each month. (If you are sending to someone on the KS side of the state line, talk to Mtr Megan and she will arrange for stamps!)

An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn.
