SunHarvest Receives Top Solar Contractor Award

Last month, we were incredibly elated as a team to receive a Top Solar Contractor award, placing fourth in Arizona and 34th nationally, but we were equally eager for our trip to accept the award.

Brandon Cheshire, founder of SunHarvest Solar, attended the 2015 Top Solar Contractors Gala to be honored among many other incredibly successful solar teams. Being surrounded by so many people who are fighting for solar and clean energy was truly inspiring.

This convention served as a reminder to us that our mission is clear and our work is recognizable.

SunHarvest Solar hopes to continue down this path by providing our customers with unrivaled service, attention to detail, and the careful execution of solar projects in both Arizona and New Mexico in the future.

SunHarvest Solar Celebrates PARK(ing) Day

On September 18, our team participated in PARK(ing) Day Phoenix, which is a one day, world-wide event to help people reimagine how we use our public space. Metered parking spaces are turned into parks. We of course created a solar park, complete with a brightly colored house with solar panels and solar gadgets to recharge people's electronics with the power of the sun. Our team had a blast interacting with the public and getting to learn about other groups in our city.

SunHarvest Solar Donates 100 Umbrellas to CASS

On September 16, Brandon Cheshire, owner of SunHarvest Solar,  joined together with Phoenix Vice Mayor and Councilman Daniel Valenzuela to deliver 100 blue umbrellas to the North 17 Apartments run by Central Arizona Shelter Services ( CASS ) in north Phoenix. Researchers developing new solar power technology are getting more than $100 million in grants from the federal government as a way to reduce the cost of solar power and expand access to low-carbon energy.  As part of the Obama administration's Climate Action Plan, the U.S. Department of Energy on Wednesday announced $52 million in new funding to universities, corporations and national laboratories and $50 million for solar photovoltaic technology research.  Read more .

Energy Tips for October
  • Set your refrigerator to the right temperature.
Keep your refrigerator's thermostat set between 37 and 40° F and the freezer set between 0 and 5° F. Setting the thermostat just 10° F below these levels costs a pretty penny. In fact, those 10° F can increase a refrigerator's energy usage by as much as 25 percent.

  • Defrost the freezer regularly.
Ice crystals in a freezer reduce its efficiency. You should always defrost a freezer before it builds up a quarter inch of frost.
