Artists participate in painting in authentic, beautiful Crisfield and the surrounding areas. This is a casual, non-competitive painting event, featuring a Welcome cocktail party at a private historic home, and a group nocturne.
SPECIAL PLEIN AIR EVENTS
Wednesday, May 22, 6:30-8:30pm - Meet the artists and watch them paint during the Sunset Paint Out at the City Dock. Artists will be setting up and painting in the area of the City Dock to capture one of our famous sunsets. Paintings are available for purchase.
Thursday, May 23 -ALL DAY - Artists will be on location in and around Crisfield.
Special Group Nocturne painting at the Small Boat Harbor 8:30 - 10:30pm
Friday, May 24 - Artists paint on Smith Island with a pop up art show and sale at the Smith Island Cultural Center - Ewell
Saturday, May 25 - 4-7 - The fresh paintings are for sale at the Customs House during the 4th Saturday Bay Stroll. Credit cards are accepted.
Sunday, May 26 - 12-4 -The fresh paintings are for sale at the Customs House during the Soft Shell Crab Festival. Credit cards are accepted.
Smith Island Arts

The annual Smith Island Arts Festival has been cancelled but artists will display at the
Smith Island Bakery, Ewell
Break out the flip-flops and welcome the summer in the best possible location, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Skip the beach crowds but get all the benefit of warm bay breezes and the Bay sunsets. Bring your lawn chair & relax to live music. Seafood, festival food, whole pig roast. Wet-paint sales from Crisfield Plein Air.
Stop by The Bay Gift Vault to meet local Crisfield artists Deb and Jim Biggs. Deb has studied under prominent Salisbury artist Myrna McGrath causing her focus to shift to oil and watercolors. Jim started carving decoys more than thirty years ago. His most recent work has focused on carve shorebirds.

The Crisfield Arts & Entertainment District Project presents this Poetry Workshop with Truth Thomas funded by a grant through the Maryland State Arts Council's Creativity Grant program. To discover more about MSAC and how they impact Maryland, visit

The workshop is led by Truth Thomas, the founder of Cherry Castle Publishing and studied creative writing at Howard University under Dr. Tony Medina. The "Skinny" poetry form is credited to Thomas' creation. A former writer-in-residence for the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society (HoCoPoLitSo), his poems have appeared in over 150 publications, including The 100 Best African American Poems (edited by Nikki Giovanni).
The class fee is $10 and includes lunch and art supplies to take home. Scholarships are available. More information

We will be carving and painting a Tree Swallow, Semi Palmated Plover and a Laughing Gull.We will be working from 9 to 5 each day. One bird a day, start to finish. Price for class is $85.00 a day.
