Project Conne
ction UPDATE
(new info below)
As the construction B"H has significantly advanced,
you may want to dedicate an item. As you can see, B"H many items have already been taken. The Rabbi and Committee still have not begun fundraising efforts, so this is your chance.
Two things to keep in mind:
1)
Items have been set at all price points from as little as $180 and up. This was done intentionally to allow all our members to BE"H participate and be a part of reaching this vital milestone in our history.
2) The pledges for this campaign are payable over the next year and a half (till Rosh HaShana 5781 - 2020) and are separate to all other pledges and charges. The opportunities are on a "first come first served basis" so don't delay!!
UPDATE: B"H the Beit Midrash Ner Tamid has been dedicated.
Construction Updates
B"H this week saw significant advancements on many fronts. The stairs and security door frame for the new Sacramento entrance are in. Finally, the actual connection point between the buildings was opened and work is being done there as well. Also the facia and gutter supports for the new roof are being done as well.

The Geshem Fund
It has been very busy for the Geshem Fund. Significant sums of money have been distributed to dozens of people to help with rent, utilities, food and many other purposes. This has depleted the fund. Please help us help those in need.
Please open your hearts and your wallets and make checks out to the order of GESHEM FUND and give to Rabbi Raccah or put in the mailbox of the office or the shul and Ayelet will give it to Rabbi Raccah. As you thank Hashem for all that He has blessed you with, remember the less fortunate who are struggling and in desperate need of assistance. Thank you.

Sponsor Learning in the Kollel
Our Rabbis tell us the great power and merit associated with supporting Torah learning. To that end, consider sponsoring a week or a month of learning in the Kollel.
Examples of sponsorship purposes include: in memory of a deceased loved one for their Azkarah, to merit a Rifuah Shilamah, or to honor a loved one or friend. In addition to the great merit of supporting Torah in our community, your sponsorship will be marked with printed pages noting the intent of your support that are placed in stands on the tables in the Beit HaMidrash for the duration of your sponsorship period.
Here are the costs for the various sponsorships:
A night of learning - $52
A week of learning - $100
A month of learning - $400
Rabbi Worch's Shiur
On Tuesday, May 21st, Rabbi Worch gave his next shiur in the "Legends and Legacies" series of monthly classes for men. The Shiur foucsed on
The Rashash (Rav Shalom Sharabi), a very humble man who tried to keep his brilliance under wraps most of his life. Only after he married the Rosh Yeshiva's daughter did his wisdom and intellect become known. He went on to become the Rosh Yeshiva himself of Yeshivat Mekubalim.
The Shiur was very well attended and delicious refreshments were served.
The Kollel appreciates the following sponsors of learning:
A week of learning has been sponsored by Yigal Zino for May 27-June 3 in memory of his father, Shimon ben Aziza. May his Neshama merit an Aliyah.
Two weeks of learning have been sponsored by Mrs. Shani Aryeh for May 31-June 13 in memory of her husband, Moshe David ben Gittel Leah. May his Neshama merit an Aliyah.
A week of learning has been sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Ben Pomerantz for May 29-June 5 in memory of Batsheva's mother, Sarah bat Pauline. May her Neshama merit an Aliyah.
A month of learning has been sponsored anonymously for the month of May. The Kollel thanks the patrons for their generosity.
The Laws of a Compensatory Prayer
Question: If one forgets to pray a certain prayer and the time for reciting that prayer has already passed, what is the proper procedure?
Answer: Our Sages taught (Berachot 26b): "One who has erred and has not prayed Shacharit should pray Mincha twice." This means that if one mistakenly has not prayed one prayer or if one has not prayed a certain prayer because of circumstances beyond one's control, one must compensate this prayer after having recited the next prayer one prays, for our Sages have established that one must compensate one's prayer. Thus, if one forgets to pray Shacharit, one should pray Mincha prayers and immediately after doing so, one must recite the Amida prayer again as compensation for the Shacharit prayer which one has missed.
The compensatory prayer applies only to the Amida prayer; however, the rest of the prayer, such as Keri'at Shema and its blessings, Pesukei De'Zimra, and the like, cannot be compensated for and once their time has passed, one has missed out on this Mitzvah.
Thus, one who forgets to pray Shacharit should repeat the Amida immediately after concluding the Mincha prayer and this will compensate for the Shacharit prayer one missed.
The Law Regarding Women
Maran zt"l writes that just as a man who missed a given prayer must compensate for it during the next prayer, so too, a woman who customarily prays a set prayer, such as Shacharit, and it happened that she had forgotten to pray, may likewise compensate for this prayer by reciting the Mincha prayer twice.
Summary: If one forgets to pray any given prayer, such as Shacharit, one must compensate for this prayer after praying Mincha, i.e. after concluding the Mincha Amida prayer, one should wait several seconds and then recite the Amida prayer again in compensation for Shacharit.
