This upcoming Monday, May 27th the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce will be closed to remember and honor those who have fallen while serving in the Armed Forces. We will open for regular hours again starting Tuesday, May 28th.

Summer Sanitation Workshops

We have partnered again this year with the Northalsted Business Alliance to offer Restaurant Managers Training and Summer Sanitation Classes to our local bars and restaurants. The SafeDining Association will be teaching the final classes on Wednesday, May 29th. Classes are available on a first come, first served basis.

Lakeview East Rummage Sale
 
The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce wants you to join us for our first EVER  Lakeview East Rummage Sale !
On  Sunday, June 9th from 10:00am - 4:00pm, we'll be under the
Belmont EL Stop at 938 W. Belmont with neighbors, vendors, food, and music.

What's better than a sunny summer shopping day in your own neighborhood? Sign up today to take part by hosting your own little sale spot in the lot. 

Residents can also apply to be a vendor at this event! Space is limited.  Please apply here. Resident vendors will be chosen by June 1st.
Façade Rebate Program

 
  Update the façade of your building with the help of the Façade Rebate Program. Eligible projects within the SSA territories can receive up to $6,000 or 60% in funds for improvements.

Looking for a Mural Artist?
 
Lakeview East artist Dennis Jose is offering original oil paintings from his Garden Series at no charge for long term display at schools, libraries, health centers and other public places. Business owners and building managers who want art for their retail spaces or public lobbies are also encouraged to contact Dennis. He also has experience doing outdoor murals -- be in touch if you would like a free proposal.
 
Dennis' work has been featured by several designers at the Merchandise Mart and at galleries in five states. He studied at the School of the Art Institute.

19th District Community Alternative Policing Strategies (CAPS)

The 44th Ward is served by the 19th District (bounded by Lawrence, Lake Shore Drive, Fullerton, and the Chicago River). Each police district is divided in beats, and each beat has a team of beat officers assigned to it. Police representatives from these teams and local community leaders conduct the CAPS meetings. Movies in the Park

Rush University is working on a study that examines experiences with trauma and other minority stressors on mental health among older LGBT Asian populations. We are looking to conduct phone interviews with older Asian LGBTQ individuals 50+ years for the study.
 
After the phone interview, participants will receive a $25 incentive to compensate for their time. If you are interested in participating in a phone interview please contact chien-ching_li@rush.edu or 312-469-0726.
