A Message from the Director

Things are starting to pop at Seabeck. The rhododendrons are blooming and the grass is bright green. We have had an incredibly busy spring. I can't remember the last totally empty day we had. We get a little break next week before we start the ramp up to summer.

The ice machine has arrived. Guests can look forward to free access to ice all summer. A new
oven and a water bottle filler are on the way. The water bottle filler will be installed in the   lobby as a way to combat the need for plastic bottles. Our recycling company just told us they no longer   accept plastic because there is no market for the used bottles. Please consider this when making snack/beverage choices for your groups while here. We will have very low-cost reusable water bottles available for sale. This all fits into our staffs Reduce Waste theme for 2018.

George Gatta visited Seabeck last week and we have finalized the location, elevation and plaza area for New Pines. I am very excited by the results and can't wait to share the plans with you at the Seabeck 520 event.

Registration for the Seabeck 520 event opens today. You will receive a separate email with all the great details. I ordered the first 117 bricks for the plaza. They should arrive in time to be displayed at the event. We are proud to announce the addition of a vocal performance by The Independents. They are a local choir that sings patriotic and inspirational songs. I have heard them many times and always enjoy their singing. I hope you can join us for this free event. It also marks our first salmon bake of the year. You won't want to miss it. You can register by email or give us a call.

I look forward to seeing on May 20th and all summer long,
Chuck

Think Before You Drink!

In a response to the mess that plastic bottles have made in our country, Seabeck is installing a water bottle filling station in the lobby of the Inn.

Please encourage your group to bring their own water bottles to Seabeck and use the filling station. We will also have cheap water bottles for sale.  We can all make a difference if we pay attention and do something about this problem. Even the smallest changes can make the biggest differences.

Meet Our New  Food Service Director

Hello Seabeck Conference Center Community!

I am excited to begin my new career as your Food Service Director. Food service has been a big part of my professional life, spanning 30 years. In that time, I've had the opportunity to work at a variety of restaurants, hotels, country clubs, and catering venues. In 2000, I enrolled in the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program in Portland, Oregon, where I graduated with honors and continued my chef career.

The last 10 years I have spent with Food Services of America, where I gained extensive knowledge of the Broadline Distribution industry. All the roads have led me to Seabeck, where I look forward to being a part of an amazing team.

See you in the dining room!
Thanks,
Mark Regan

Does Anyone Know What This Is?

While the maintenance staff was cleaning out the old shop this item was found in a drawer. It has some sharp screws and a spring clip.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be or what it is used for?

Seabeck Key Round-Up

Do these keys look familiar to anyone? Not these particular rooms, but the keys in general?

We lose a lot of keys each year after groups leave Seabeck with the room keys in their pockets. After one retreat last year, 25 keys were missing. Some were sent back, but many were not. The cost of replacing these keys is not a huge expense, but we try to save where we can.

So, if anyone out there has any Seabeck keys, please return them when you can, or bring them to your next retreat and drop them off at the office. It would be appreciated!
