Highlights of Presentation and Discussion Items

The following items were presented to the Board:
Finance Report -
As of April 30, 2019 the Board learned the system is at 88.29  percent for the budget year. The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenues for April 2019 were down .42 percent from 2018 collections and up 12.57 percent from last month. A financial statement, investment reports, and bond summaries were also shared, as well as a detailed capital projects analysis.
Bus Radio Project -
The Forsyth County Schools Transportation Department has been in communication & negotiations with Forsyth County this school year to finalize a partnership that would allow FCS to improve & expand its radio network. In addition to approving these agreements with Forsyth County to formalize this partnership, Forsyth County Schools will need to invest approximately $1.6 million dollars to update & upgrade its radio equipment, specifically:  radio tower & tower equipment, 450 school bus radio units, and FCS Transportation dispatch radio & computer equipment. This radio equipment upgrade is necessary to ensure that all FCS Transportation radio equipment is compatible with Forsyth County's radio equipment and will provide seamless access to Forsyth County's radio infrastructure.   These agreements and investments would result in an immediate, overall increase in transportation safety for Forsyth County Schools and its stakeholders.  Costs for this project would be provided through 2018 School Bond funds.
