A Message from the  Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope this finds you and your family enjoying a great start to the summer. We are so pleased to have your students participating in a wide variety of enrichment and sports camps throughout the district. The photo below is courtesy of the Lovejoy Messenger, which recently covered the baseball camp. You may click here to enjoy additional photos that are available for purchase from the Lovejoy Messenger.

Safety and Security

Oftentimes, I am asked if the district is closed for the summer. In reality, the work of the district is year-round. A great example of this is safety and security. Monday night, the Safety/Security Advisory Board met. This group is comprised of parents from each campus, as well as principals and central office administrators. This group consists of parents who have or had experience in a law enforcement capacity.

We are considering 18 unique investments to increase the safety and security at each of our campuses.  One of the things I anticipate for the 2018-2019 school year is having an officer or trained security professional on each of our six campuses every day.

We will present a safety/security report at the June Board of Trustees meeting, which will include our recommendations for the 2018-2019 school year and beyond. You are welcome to attend the meeting, which will occur on June 20th at 7:30 PM in the Lovejoy ISD Administration Board Room.

Leopard Fishing Team of the Year

Congratulations to the Leopard Fishing Team for being named "Team of the Year". The "Team of the Year" designation is calculated based on the results of the five regular season tournaments. Out of 50 schools and approximately 300 boats, the Lovejoy anglers' efforts on the water earned them a 1st place team finish. Two teams finished in the top 5 with Josh Bittlestone and John Armstrong taking 1st place, and Sam Harrison and Jacob Guzinski taking 5th place. The team of Trey Johnson and Kellen Worley finished 7th.

We offer further congratulations to the following students who competed at the State tournament:

Trey Johnson and Kellen Worley
Coale Barr and Trent Martelloni
Ethan LeGare and Daniel Helsley
Keegan Reck and Austin Paxton
Luke Krisher and Chief Collins
