Last Friday, St. Augustine hosted our own student film festival
For the last two quarters of technology class, seventh and eighth grade students have been learning the art of filmmaking. First, students learned from past great film and filmmakers. Then, students took lead on their own projects. Deciding first which genres they are interested in and then within a group - assembled by similar genre interests - they created scripts, assigned roles, organized filming schedules and lastly devised a promotional plan in the form of posters, trailers and websites.

After all the films were created, Friday's St. Augustine Film Festival (SAFF) was a showcase of their hard work. Each sixth, seventh, and eighth grade student traveled into four rooms where the films were screened along with the film crew on hand to answer questions. When the film and question session ended, students and teachers handed in a ballot to place a rating on the film (1 - 5, 5 being the best).

Of the seven film screened, Written Out was awarded the SAFF Audience Award winner; the winning film crew won a full movie package of candy, popcorn and a movie pass. Honorable mention to Forsaken for nearly winning festival themselves.
