Fetal Ultrasound Bill Clears Senate
A proposal requiring physicians performing an ultrasound on a pregnant woman to inform her of the opportunity to view or decline to view an active ultrasound image of the fetus passed the Senate on May 1. Read more here.
Increased Price Transparency Called for Under Bill
A key proposal on price transparency generated during a summer-long series of hearings about medical costs and pricing cleared the Senate floor when SF 3480 passed on a 65-2 vote. Read more here.

Online LGBTQ Health Event is Next Week
Join Angela Goepferd, MD, of Children's Minnesota, as she discusses "Working with Transgender Youth and Their Families" on May 9 from noon to 1 p.m. on the MMA's Facebook page. MMA Signs on to Letter Expressing Concern on Access to Office-based Testing
On April 27, the MMA and 50 other state medical associations and specialty societies signed on to a letter to Seema Verma, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, expressing concern that Medicaid beneficiaries in several states are on the verge of losing access to clinical testing services. The MMA is looking for physicians to help guide development of programming in support of physician wellbeing/physician satisfaction. The MMA began work on this issue in 2010 and is looking to understand current work underway across the state and identify potential gaps.
