The Turquoise Table: Kristin Schell

Are you consumed with a busy life but unsure how to slow down? Do you desire connection within your community and think you don’t have time for it or can’t create it? What if there was another way through it all, a way to find those moments of peace and to create a time for honest, comfortable connection? What if meeting neighbors and connecting with friends was as simple as showing up and being available?

Desperate for a way to slow down and connect, Kristin Schell put an ordinary picnic table in her front yard, painted it turquoise and began inviting friends and neighbors to join her. Life changed in her community and it can change in yours as well. Alongside personal and heartwarming stories, Kristin gives you:

  • Stress-free ideas for kick-starting your own Turquoise Table
  • Simple recipes to take outside and share with others
  • Stories from people using Turquoise Tables in their neighborhoods
  • Encouragement to overcome barriers that keep you from connecting
  • New ways to view hospitality.

Never Unfriended: Lisa-Jo Baker

In a world where women can unfriend each other with the swipe of a finger, how do we find friendships that we can trust to last? By first becoming those kinds of lasting friends ourselves.

As the community manager at the website incourage.me since 2010, Lisa-Jo Baker has had the chance to engage hundreds of conversations with women about friendship. She’s learned that no one can make us quite as unsure about ourselves as another woman. And nothing can wound as deeply as unkind words from a friend. While we all crave friendship, it’s the fear of feeling awkward and being rejected, left out or hurt (again) keeping us from connecting.

But what if we knew we could never be unfriended? Would we risk friendship then?

Starting with the guarantee from our most faithful friend who ever lived, Jesus, Never Unfriended is a step-by-step guide to friendships you can trust. Filled with personal stories and practical tips to help us make friends and be the friends who last , it answers the questions lurking under the surface of every friendship: What are we afraid of? What can’t we change? What can we change? And where do we start?

UNASHAMED: Christine Caine

Shame can take on many forms. It hides in the shadows of the most successful, confident and high-achieving woman who struggles with balancing her work and children; it also hides in the heart of the broken, abused and downtrodden woman who has been told she will never amount to anything. Shame hides in plain sight and can hold us back in ways we do not realize, but Christine Caine wants readers to know something: we can all be free .

In Unashamed , Christine reveals the often-hidden consequences of shame—in her own life and the lives of so many Christian women—and invites you to join her in moving from a shame-filled to a shame-free life.

In her passionate and candid style, Christine leads you into God’s Word to see for yourself how you can believe God is bigger than your mistakes, your inadequacies, your past and your limitations. He is more powerful than anything you’ve done and stronger than anything ever done to you. You can deal with your yesterday today so you can move on to what God has in store for you tomorrow—a powerful purpose and destiny he wants you to fulfill.

Summer Bible Study: Priscilla Shirer

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.

The Enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.
