Dear Parents,

Many Yorkville CUSD 115 students recently participated in high-stakes state and national tests such as the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), PSAT, or SAT. While these tests provide us with a snapshot of how students are performing academically, it is important to remember that these tests are just one measure of how our students are growing. I encourage you to take some time to reflect on the progress your child has made this year--not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Perhaps he/she learned a new skill, picked up a new hobby, had the courage to join a club or team, made a new friend, helped someone in need, or demonstrated maturity beyond his/her years. These student milestones should also be appreciated and celebrated by parents, friends, and teachers in an effort to inspire continued curiosity and growth.

As the school year comes to a close, I encourage you to challenge your children to set personal goals and teach them to be relentless about pursuing those goals. Through goal setting, they will be able to realize continued growth.

"Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal." ~Earl Nightingale

Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Baughman

Summer Enrichment
Excited about the next school year and eager to learn, or nervous about what awaits you in the next grade level? In either case, District 115 has a new way to help!

Camp Acceleration is being offered to District 115 students entering grades 1-8. The camp will run on weekdays from 1-4 p.m., July 8-26 at Yorkville Intermediate School. The three-week camp costs $50 per camper. The fee will be added to students' 2019-20 school registration account balance.

During Camp Acceleration, campers will be able to get a jump start on the 2019-20 school curriculum in the area of either math or English language arts. Within a technology-rich environment, campers will explore the subject area through enriched learning, conversations, projects, and games. Campers will be grouped by ability and learning will emphasize creativity, collaboration, and inquiry. As campers progress through lessons, opportunities for enriched conversations, challenging projects, and problem-solving will create fun, enriching learning experiences.

Get a jump start on summer and register today!

Report Cards
Students' report cards are available for parents to view in Home Access Center (HAC).

To display the report card, click the "A+ Grades" icon on the HAC menu, and then click on the "Report Card" tab. Directions

Report cards for the current year will be available until June 30, 2019.
Chromebooks
This year, students will keep their Chromebooks during the summer and then return with the devices next fall.

One way students can stay engaged in learning throughout the summer is to participate in online camps that teach new skills and foster peer collaboration. Many educational apps, extensions, and sites (such as Kahn Academy, Rivet, and EduTyping) offer free learning resources for students to practice math, reading, and typing this summer. Taking a family vacation? Students can explore destinations and create sample itineraries using Google Earth.

To receive help with a Chromebook repair or service during the summer, please email studentsupport@y115.org
