EXCERPT FROM
THE
PILGRIM
"Getting Towards a Poem"
by Anthony

Sleeping outside can be fun once in a while
But I'd have a lot more fun if I had a place of my own and could play video games.

Thoughts come to my head in a journalistic way
but I want to make them more attractive.
With rhymes.
And the correct syllable count.

Not sleeping for days
because I don't have a place.
All that I need
is a place to rest my feet.
And people judge you 'cause of where you live.
Well, I'm still livin'.

FROM THE DEAN

Last Friday, I gathered with many others for the deconsecration of St. John's Chapel, the final stop on the line as Episcopal Divinity School leaves Cambridge. It was a hard and holy moment. To me, the greatest blessing of the afternoon was the sharing of stories and memories - tales of baptisms, funerals, liturgical snafus and glories, sermons that transformed. God works in real time, in real space and specific moments. No wonder we are so attached to the places that held such moments.

As a cathedral we have a dual vocation to both be a space where transformative moments are hosted and point to all the other unique and holy places in our diocese where God's mission is shaping and saving lives. I love celebrating the
Eucharist ea ch Sunday with our cathedral congregation while we stand on a surface covered with the names of the 200+ consecrated spaces where others are gathering or have gathered.  As our church continues to change and respond to an ever-evolving world and the spaces where we gather across the diocese change, too, my faith is that God will act just as powerfully.

A few of the furnishings from St. John's Chapel will be finding a home at the cathedral - a visible connection to those moments past, ready to play a role in sacred moments yet to come.

Christ's peace to you,
Amy

THE CROSSING

The Crossing is our grassroots, justice-focused, do-it-yourself church community of hipsters, heretics, homeless, and other unlikely pilgrims.

The Crossing recently bade farewell to their Priest, the Rev. Marsha Hoecker,  who retired on May 24th. We wish Marsha a fond farewell and thank-you for her guidance and enthusiasm for The Crossing's unique worship and fellowship.

In a recent letter to The Crossing community, Minister of Liturgical Arts Ashley Anderson has also announced her resignation effective mid/late July. In her letter Ashley wrote: "After a long period of prayerful discernment, I have decided to step down from my ministry at The Crossing. I give this news with sadness and also with hope for what The Crossing may become and grow into. I have deep gratitude for the radical welcome and blessed beauty of The Crossing. You all have taught me so much."
