A Message From Mr. Stoops

The month of May is here and we are busy with many activities leading us into the conclusion of another school year. The month is full of meaningful and exciting activities such as May Crowning, Field Day, Spring Concert, Pep Rally, and many more! We look forward to these events but will also continue to challenge our students to their fullest potential academically, developmentally, spiritually, and physically. Please encourage your children to enjoy all of the fun and exciting activities during May, but also to come focused on all of their school work.

In addition to the exciting activities we all look forward to, I also want to recognize Anne Pavely for coordinating and displaying a wonderful Art Show! It was a clear example of the high-quality work students accomplish under her instruction! I am amazed at the skill demonstrated by all our students!

Also, please keep our second graders in your prayers as they prepare for their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Students have been working hard and are eager to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord for the first time! Thank you to our second grade teachers, religious education office, parents, and all others who come together to make this day special.

Finally, our 8th graders continue their trip to Washington, D.C. throughout this week. Please keep them in your prayers for a safe and exciting adventure!

God Bless,
Corey
In-Service Day: Meeting the Needs of All Learners

On Friday, Guardian Angels staff members participated in a day of in-service training, focused on helping meet the needs of all learners in every classroom. This professional development was part of our commitment and dedication to challenge every student to be successful in the classroom, regardless of ability level. Throughout the year, Margaret Dorson-King, Nancy Harker, Rachel Rodrigue, Anne Pavely, and I participated in trainings on this topic through the Optim-All program. As a result of participating, the entire GA staff received training as part of our in-srevice day on Friday, and will also have 15 contact hours of additional training next year! As a faculty, we have learned a lot throughout this year, and look to continuously increase our knowledge of proven methods to ensure the success of all learners!
Council on Child Abuse Presentations

On Thursday and Friday, presenters from the Council on Child Abuse (COCA) will be here to deliver presentations to our kindergarten through 7th graders. Presentations will be about an hour in length. Grades K-3 will focus on child abuse prevention and grades 4-7 will focus on bully prevention. We anticipate that going forward we will have yearly presentations from this organization as we continuously find opportunities to protect our students. Additional information can be found through the COCA website.
Mass to Welcome New Kindergarten Students

On Thursday May 17th at 8:15am, all of our new kindergarten students, registered for 2018-2019, will experience Mass for the first time with our Guardian Angels School students! It will be a wonderful celebration welcoming them to our school. We are blessed and excited to welcome these new students and their families to our community.
School Supply Toolboxes

Orders can now be placed for School Supply Toolboxes for the 18-19 school year. This  offers a convenience for parents to have all of your child's needed items collected and ready for the start of class. Orders for toolboxes can be placed online through June 15th.  The supplies are then shipped directly to the school and ready for pickup on August 12th after the 10:00 and 12:00 Masses. More information is attached.

Participation in this program is not required. If parents would like to shop on their own, grade level supply lists can be found on our website.

If you have any questions, contact Jill Buchmann.
Forest Hills & Milford Busing For 2018-2019

Any family planning to use Forest Hills School District and Milford School District buses for the 2018-2019 school year must complete the private and parochial transportation request form, which can be found on our website. This form should be submitted directly to the Forest Hills Transportation office no later than June 30th. It can be mailed, faxed,or emailed; details are on the form. One form is required for each child planning to ride the bus. The form for Milford students is due by June 11th Do not return these forms to GA
Also, Forest Hills announced new starting/dismissal times for each of their buildings for next school year. As a result, we will need to make an adjustment to our afternoon dismissal procedures for GA students who ride afternoon busses. It is our understanding, after working with the transportation office, that all Forest Hills busses will be able to leave GA by 2:50 and all busses will leave at the same time. This will be a welcome change to our school, as students will be able to arrive to their homes much quicker! Morning arrival will not change.

Find GA News On Facebook
This time of year gets incredibly busy and Facebook is a great way to stay-up-to-date on everything happening in our school and parish. Guardian Angels uses our Facebook page to keep families informed about upcoming events, news, and other information regarding our school and parish.
Facebook has changed how you see information from the pages you follow. These changes mean you will see fewer posts from Pages you like, including Guardian Angels. That means you have to do more than just Like our page to see our updates in the future. If you want to make sure you continue to see information posted through the Guardian Angels page, please make sure you go to our page, click Following (just under the cover photo), and then choose See First. This way anything we share will still be seen in your newsfeed.
Support GA While You Shop On Amazon
You can now support Guardian Angels Parish when you shop at Amazon.com! GA is a newly registered participant in the AmazonSmile Program. You can sign-up to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels. When you make purchases through the AmazonSmile page, and have GA selected as your beneficiary, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products back to GA. You have to be shopping from smile.amazon.com page of the site for us to receive the benefit.
Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program.
Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. Register your rewards card online and select Guardian Angels as your beneficiary. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping. Enrolling does NOT impact the points you use to redeem for discounts at the pump.
Have You Checked Out Formed.org
Guardian Angels invites you to explore all of the resources offered through  Formed.org  by registering with the parish code 4EVXRB. Registration is complimentary to all parishioners and residents of our parish area, so be sure to tell your friends. Great programs, videos, books and more are added every month.
