A Message from Our Principal
Dear St. Bernard’s Families,

It has been a great year at our Catholic school! Our children have grown in body, mind, and spirit with your support and the guidance of their teachers. Our Pre-K students are moving up to Kindergarten. Our 5th graders are entering middle school. Our 8th graders are moving on to high school. Each one of our students is a little older, a little wiser, and a little closer to God, and for that we are grateful.

This year was filled with learning, fun, and friendships. We had opportunities to serve others, to love, and to forgive. We prayed, sang, and worshipped together at Mass. We played at rallies and had fun at PTC events. We sang and danced on Grandparents’ Day. We enjoyed CYO sports. We built a community of faith.

Before we leave for summer break, I want to thank our teachers and staff for their dedication and commitment to Catholic education. In a special way I would like to thank Mrs. Hendl, Mr. McKee, and Mr. Rose. Each one of these teachers is leaving a positive mark in the hearts of their students. They will be greatly missed. I also would like to thank you, our parents, for your involvement in the education of your children and for giving of your time to share in the life of our school.

We say goodbye to our sisters, the Daughters of the Cross. They planted the seed of Catholic education in Tracy in 1958. As we bid them farewell, our hearts are filled with gratitude for their selfless service to the children of our school throughout the years. We pray for abundant blessings upon them and their community.

We are grateful to God for the blessings of this year, for his care and protection from harm, for his presence shown in the many acts of kindness happening in the classrooms, the lunchroom, and the playground. When you see a child share a snack, put his arm around a friend to console him, say a kind word, run, play, smile, we see God’s goodness and are moved to thank Him for leading his children to a place where they learn the values that will guide their lives on earth and lead them to heaven.

New families are joining our school family in the fall. They come to St. Bernard’s because they want their children to learn and grow in a loving and caring environment, where God is at the center of what we teach, what we say, and what we do. Welcome to St. Bernard’s!

As we conclude the celebration of the 60th anniversary of our school, we thank our priests, faculty, staff, parents, and students for all they have done to make this school year a great success. May we continue to work together to make St. Bernard’s Catholic School a place where every student grows and learns with God’s guidance.

Enjoy time with family and friends. Stay close to God, who loves you and cares for you more than you can imagine. Have a happy and safe summer!

Peace,

Patty Paredes

WELCOME MRS. FREAD, OUR NEW 3RD GRADE TEACHER!
Hello, everyone! My name is Jo-Ann Fread. I am so excited to be joining St. Bernard's Catholic School this year as the third grade teacher.

Having moved to Hayward, California from Massachusetts as a young child, my family and I were parishioners at St. Bede's Church throughout the years. As an adult, my husband, our two daughters, and I lived in Hayward, Milpitas, Fremont, and ultimately in Tracy where I have been a member of St. Bernard's for over 17 years.

I LOVE children and am sincerely passionate about teaching! By the grace of God, I've been blessed to have had many years of fun-filled and enriching experiences teaching in grades K through 6 in Fremont. I believe in a strong home-school partnership in which you and I work closely together to best meet the total developmental needs of your child. I bring to the classroom, not only my love of music, dance, and dramatization, but also accounts from travels across our beautiful country as well as trips to Europe, Mexico, and Australia.

Most of all, I praise God for allowing me this opportunity to do what I love. I look forward to sharing my faith with my students as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion this year. What an honor and privilege it is for me to be their teacher!
