Shirley's Corner
Five high school students - Leora Geralnik, Tali Miller, Dina Kirshner, Coral Vaknin, and Adam Hoffman - are participating in a grant this year called Better2Lead. As part of the grant, they are fulfilling dreams of some of the residents at The Medallion, one of whom is Shirley Shoifet, mother of Laura Yaffee.
In Shirley's younger years, she loved going to libraries and reading to the children, which brought her so much joy. She no longer has the opportunity to do this, so the Better2Lead team created a new reading space in our Beren Academy library called "Shirley's Corner." Shirley will come to Beren about once a month and read to our students. All teachers can also now read to their students in Shirley's Corner.
