Report from Haiti
Carl Delicat
Carl Delicat has close ties with Holy Cross School in Ravine a l'Anse and the Haiti Outreach Committee. He is the son of Lyonel Delicat, deacon of Holy Cross Church and former headmaster of the school. Carl is an alumnus of the school and went on to study engineering with assistance from the late Dr. Herb Davis. Carl has traveled to the U. S. on more than one occasion. After ten days in Oregon he learned to build and repair the vital stoves that are used in the food program. Following Hurricane Matthew, he applied those skills to repair two damaged stoves. He has also been instrumental in maintaining the structural integrity of the Holy Cross School. A few years ago he escorted his parents to Kansas City to visit Dr. Davis and was hosted by members of the Haiti Committee who gave him a chance to appreciate some Kansas City Jazz. He is now a fan of Mr. Bobby Watson. During Dr. Davis's last trip to Haiti, we all attended the Sunday service in Les Cayes before going up to Holy Cross School. Herb was asked by Father Colbert to speak to the congregation. Spontaneously, Carl stepped up and interpreted the doctor's words into Creole. For many of us Carl has been our ambassador of Haitian culture and attitudes.

Senior Commodities
Can you help one Wednesday evening a month?

St. Paul's Episcopal Food Pantry is looking for a regular volunteer(s) for the Senior Commodity program on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.    This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for couples or for students who need service hours!     The program serves Missouri residents who are 60 years of age or older and meet certain income requirements.   The volunteer opportunity involves taking applications, checking the clients in and possibly helping them carry out their food boxes.   We generally serve approximately 20-25 clients on Wednesday evenings.
If you are able to help, please contact Karen Seitter or at 816-590-9366
  Thanks! I appreciate your consideration.

St. Paul's
Sunday Mail Ministry
In these tumultuous times, more people than ever before are reaching out to their members of Congress and other elected officials.  Indeed, this is part of our calling as followers of Jesus in the world--to engage with the powers that be to make for a better world for all God's creation.  Each Sunday, the members of Acts and Action will have a table set aside during Coffee Hour where you can write a postcard to your selected elected official, and write whatever you wish to convey: I agree, I disagree, I'm praying for you, etc.  Acts and Action will then deliver them by hand to the local offices of KCMO reps on the final Friday of each month.  (If you are sending to someone on the KS side of the state line, talk to Mtr Megan and she will arrange for stamps!)

Episcopal Church teams with ecumenical partners for
2018 Poor People's Campaign:
A National Call for Moral Revival

Hundreds gathered for the initial meeting of the new Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival Faith Assembly last week in Kansas City. Joined by national Poor Peoples Campaign leaders Rev. Jimmie Hawkins and Dr. Colleen Wessel-McCoy, Kansas City faithful and social activists committed to doing whatever it takes to renew Dr. King's revolutionary vision to eliminate the "triple evils" of racism, economic exploitation, and militarism.

We are bringing people together across our nation's dividing lines to build a broad and deep national, moral movement led by the low-wage workers, the poor, clergy, and moral agents of change in rural and urban Missouri. In the words of Rev. William Barber, "while we may know the facts and the figures, we need a new wheel that can actually fix the problems of poverty, and racism, and militarism in America. And the Poor Peoples Campaign is that wheel."

Come and learn how you can be a part of our nation's great tradition of making non-violent social change. Gain deeper insight how past social movements used non-violence to win the freedoms we have today - for women, workers, people of color, LGBTQ. And how we can use non-violent moral collective action today to win the battle for America to be what it ought to be: A place where "opportunity is real, and life is free," and "equality is in the air we breathe," as Langston Hughes so beautifully said.

!!!!!!!!!We are in need of Coffee Hour Hosts!!!!!!
Please Let Allison know

We hope you will consider teaming up with another family or a friend to maintain our fellowship and gathering following the 10:30 a.m. service that has brought our parishioners together for years.

Hosting Coffee Hour is a fun and easy way to get to know other St. Paul's members! The host brings the food and the church provides the drinks. An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn. If you have questions or wish to co-host with another member, please contact  Alison.  Dates are available:

April 8:               GGRITS for Seersucker Sunday
April 15:             Haiti Committee
April 22:             Ministry Sunday (Parish Life)
April 29:             Awaiting a Host
