#GivingTuesday is a generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Created in 2012, this day of generosity has grown exponentially since its beginning and this year Arapaho UMC is inviting you to prayerfully consider making a special gift.
2020 forced us reconsider how church will be a part of our lives. During this time AUMC has continued to grow because of the warmth and love this community shows on a daily basis. As the leadership and staff look ahead into 2021 we are striving to create more connections for this Arapaho UMC family and those who need our support - no matter where they live. So, on #GivingTuesday (Tuesday, December 1) you are invited to help expand the connection of your church by making a gift toward the Arapaho UMC Ministry Budget which will help us reach those who need the love and support this community provides. We will be sharing more about #GivingTuesday plans in coming weeks.
How can you get prepared for #GivingTuesday?
-
Find Matching Funds - Would you investigate if your employer makes available matching donation funds. You can double your gift by using employer matching. Click This Link to find out if your company has a gift matching program.
-
Consider Becoming A Matching Donor - Are you able to commit a sum of money to match if the congregation meets your gift amount? This will entice many smaller gifts that will contribute to a very large #GivingTuesday. If you would be interested, please email Beverly Thoes. Matching donor amounts need to be committed on or before Friday, November 20th.
-
Make Your End Of 2020 or 2021 Pre-pay Gifts On December 1 - Judy Swope will be in the church office to accept any check drop-offs or you can make a donation online at www.arapahoumc.org/donate using the #GivingTuesday fund.
-
Use Facebook To Create A Fundraiser - Did you know that you can select "Arapaho UMC" as a non-profit and create a #GivingTuesday fundraiser on your facebook page? Facebook does match some of these funds. Click Here to learn more about creating your own fundraiser on Facebook.
More details about #GivingTuesday will be in each newsletter so stay tuned!

New Worship Series Begins This Sunday
|
Making a scene. Breaking the law. Living in faith. The late Rep. John Lewis, pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement, once said that we are called to make "good trouble, necessary trouble," for righteousness to take root in our world. This November, we'll take a closer look at the rule-breakers and trouble-makers celebrated in Scripture, and how their examples can guide us in living as people of faith. What "good trouble" is God calling you to make?
The Dick Bourne Award will be presented during the 11:00 am service along with a special All Saints moment.

Sermon On The Mount
New Class Begins Sunday
Matthew 5-7 contains some of Jesus' most profound and most memorable teachings. What might these teachings have meant to his disciples, and to the others who first heard them? How do they enhance our reading of the rest of the Gospel of Matthew, and how do they speak across the centuries to listeners today? How, if we pay careful attention to his words, does Jesus provide us a road map to living as God would have us live?

You can make a huge impact on your community by making a simple donation of blood. On Sunday, November 15, from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, you can make a donation to Carter BloodCare on their bus in the Arapaho UMC east parking lot. You must sign up in advance and bring your photo ID with you.

Women's Group Begins A New Advent Series in November
Every Wednesday, a group of ladies has been meeting, first in person, now online, to share reflections on Sunday sermon, or study a book, or just have fellowship. They would like to extend an offer to all women who might want to join them.
Beginning Nov 18, at 9:30am, via zoom, the group will discuss the book "Incarnation: Recovering the Significance of Christmas." In the book, best-selling author Adam Hamilton examines the names of Christ used by the gospel writers, exploring the historical and personal significance of his birth.
Now is a great time to join in this small group, to meet new people, share in fellowship, and talk about the meaning of Advent and the birth of Christ. Email Pastor Cathy for more details

Join other women from the Arapaho UMC community in a 2-part retreat: “God is Still Here.” The online retreat is scheduled for Friday night, 7:00 - 10:00 pm on November 13, and continues Saturday morning, November 14, from 9:00 am - noon.
Together, we will watch or listen to short (20 minute or less) talks from popular Christian women, talks that share answers to the question: "Where is God right now?" We will pause for breaks, and share in some new prayer practices. And we'll have some ice breakers to meet others who are participating.
