May, 2019 - In This Issue:
From the Desk of Our Executive Director

Typically this newsletter is dedicated to sharing about the great time we had at the 4Cs Children's Faire. Unfortunately, the strong prediction of rain this past weekend caused us to cancel. This is only the second time in over 20 years that the Faire has been cancelled due to weather. Ultimately, it was a good decision because the day was indeed cold and rainy.

I really missed the excitement and energy of meeting families, children, community partners and entertainers. The event always reminds me of how lucky we are to be a part of the lives of the wonderful families and children who we serve. It is a highlight of my year. I would like to thank our community partners, and 4Cs' wonderful staff and volunteers who were ready and willing to share their Saturday at the Faire. A special thank you to our sponsors (listed below) and donors for your generosity.

In lieu of the 2019 4Cs Children's Faire, we would love to give away gifts from our 4Cs Community Closet that we had prepared for the event. We have a reusable bag with a family learning game, a book for every child and other treats. These gifts are available on a first come/first served basis until we run out.  Please drop by our 4Cs Community Closet between 9am-5pm on  Wednesdays  at our Hayward location ( 22351 City Center Dr.,  Suite 100)  or on Thursdays at our  Oakland location ( 8105 Edgewater Dr.,  Suite 270)

We look forward to better weather and the opportunity to see you at the 4Cs Children's Faire next year!

Be well,

VITA volunteers celebrate
a successful tax season.
The 2018 Tax Season has come to an end and 4Cs' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers are celebrating another successful year preparing and filing tax returns for Alameda County residents!

This year, the 17th year of 4Cs' VITA program, our VITA team completed 393 tax returns via e-file, 11 paper tax returns, and 10 past year tax returns from 2016 and 2017, helping clients become tax compliant.  4Cs' volunteers dedicated a combined 1000 hours in training and tax preparation. The VITA program helped return over $760,144 back to Alameda County families!

Thank you to our VITA volunteers for sacrificing your personal time with family and friends to give back to the community you live and work in. We appreciate you!
