Graduates, Join the CCEF Class of 2018 Legacy Gift by Donating Today

All graduating high school seniors and their families are invited to participate in the Class of 2018 CCEF Legacy Gift.

The Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF) has proudly supported your students and their education ever since they first entered CCUSD schools, raising money for their school gardens, classroom computers, theatre experiences, microscopes, musical instruments, and so much more.

As a gesture of gratitude for the excellent education that you have received, graduating students are encouraged to make a donation of $20.18 in honor of your class year to the Culver City Education Foundation. All donations will be added to the CCEF Endowment Fund to help provide the exceptional educational experiences that make Culver City public schools so special.

Names of participating students received by June 11 will be displayed during graduation activities and in the high school front office.

Making a gift is a meaningful way to celebrate your important milestone by paying tribute to your CCUSD experience and ensuring that future generations have the same incredible opportunities.

A Year to Remember

for CCUSD Student-Athletes

The 2017-2018 school year was one to remember for Culver City High School's student-athletes. Culver City High School sports teams earned two CIF Championships, and athletes continued to make history on many fronts. Here is a list of some of this year's athletic highlights:

Fall Sports

Girls Volleyball – CIF Champions for the second consecutive year, marking the first time in school history it earned back-to-back CIF championships. The team earned the top spot in the Ocean League for the second year in a row and advanced to the second round of state.

Football – Reached the CIF semi-finals and notched an 11-2 record on the season.

Girls Cross Country – Reached the CIF finals and finished 12th in CIF, the first time in many years the team advanced so far.

Boys Cross Country – Earned a third-place finish in the Ocean League and advanced to the CIF playoffs.

Girls Cross Country – Finished second in CIF

Girls Tennis – Earned a third-place finish in the Ocean League and beat arch-rival Beverly Hills first time in 25 years.

Winter Sports

Girls Water Polo – CIF Champions for the first time in the school's history, defeating Valencia 4-3 in the CIF finals.

Boys Basketball – Earned the Ocean League Championship for the first time since 1986 and advanced to the CIF quarterfinals.

Girls Basketball – Earned the Ocean League Championship for the sixth time in the last seven years, advanced to the CIF semifinals and qualified for the state playoffs.

Girls Soccer – Earned the Ocean League Championship for just the third time in the school's history and advanced to the second round of the CIF playoffs.

Boys Soccer – Finished in fourth-place in the Ocean League.

Spring Sports

Softball – Finished in second place in the Ocean League and advanced to the CIF semifinals, defeating Palos Verdes, Linfield Christian and St Joseph of Santa Maria before losing to eventual champion, Chaminade, in the semis.

Baseball – Finished third in Ocean League play, and while the team lost to Palos Verdes in the first round, this season marked the 17th straight year the team has made it to the CIF playoffs.

Girls Lacrosse – Finished second in Ocean League play and advanced to the semifinals in the Invitational division of the lacrosse playoffs.

Boys Lacrosse – Finished third in Ocean League play before losing in the first round of the Invitational Lacrosse playoffs.

Girls Track – Went undefeated in Dual meets and earned a first-place finish in the Ocean League for the fourth consecutive time. Girls 4x100 came in 8th in CIF, 4X 400 came in 9th in CIF and hurdler Ayanna Bahati came in third-place in CIF.

Boys Track – Won the Ocean League for the second time in a row and the 4x 400 relay team came in third-place in CIF.

Boys Swimmer Bart Salvetera finished second in the 50-meter freestyle in CIF and 8th in the 100-meter.

Boys Golf Austin Davis won the Individual Golf League Championship

Boys Volleyball – Finished third in Ocean League play, losing in the first round of the CIF playoffs.

Boys Tennis – Finished third in Ocean League play.

CCUSD Gearing Up for Sixth Annual FREE Summer Lunch Program

Because our kids need to remain healthy, connected, safe and “whole” during the summer months, CCUSD has created a free lunch program complete with a variety of daily activities for students under 18! The program, a first come/first served lunch program, begins June 18 and includes, not only free lunch, but a great line-up of activities, games and more – all for free!

 

 

The site is OPEN to all teens and children, 18 and under, and is FREE of charge. All food must be eaten on-site. Parents are more than welcome to stay and partake in interactive activities while their children eat and play. The site will be open to the public daily at 11 am and closed at 1 pm, at which time all students must clear the school site.

CCPD Advisory: Guns and Children

Firearms Safety

As part of our partnership with the Culver City Police Department, CCUSD is pleased to share this important advisory from our police department:

Summary of Safe Storage Laws Regarding Children

You may be guilty of a misdemeanor or a felony if you keep a loaded firearm within any premises that are under your custody or control and a child under 18 years of age obtains and uses it, resulting in injury or death, or carries it to a public place, unless you stored the firearm in a locked container or locked the firearm with a locking device to temporarily keep it from functioning.

You Cannot Be Too Careful with Children and Guns

To prevent injury or death caused by improper storage of guns in a home where children are likely to be present, you should store all guns unloaded, lock them with a firearms safety device and store them in a locked container. Ammunition should be stored in a location separate from the gun.
