Memorail Day is Monday!
"Thank you!" is not enough to express our gratitude to our fallen soldiers and their families for their sacrifice.

Countryside is honored to deliver graveside arrangements in red, white and blue for military families to remember their loved ones on Memorial Day.  Their birthdays and the winter season are never forgotten as we update the flowers with a bright mix for summer or fall and tuck them in with a grave blanket in December.

We have two young men who have been making these heartfelt deliveries from our Flower Shop. They take great pride in being the ones to decorate the sites for those families who are not in the area to do it themselves. It is special for them and they are special to us...

"RAIN - RAIN - Go Away - come again another day..."
We are happy for rain - just not when it comes so frequently and heavily. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind this spring:

In-ground planted plants need an inch of water per week. No need to water them more if we receive that much or more in the form of rain.

Granular fertilizers, rather than water soluble fertilizers, work really well when we have a wet spring so you are not adding more water to already wet plantings.

Wait - for your lawn and gardens to dry out after rain so you do not compact your soil!

NOT YOUR NORMAL MAY PLANTING YEAR!!!!
We continue to have very cold temperatures and wind chills this May in spite of what the calendar says should be planting time.
Tender annuals like impatiens and flowering vinca, tender hanging baskets like fuschia, tender vines like morning glory, warm loving vegetables like peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers and squash are all prone to damage from the wind and cold that we have been experiencing all month.
In addition, all the rain and cloudy skies combined with the cool soil temperatures has created the environment for diseases like leaf spot, blight, and root rot to occur.
We recommend not putting these tender plants out until these conditions change. However, if you have already planted, be sure to spray with Copper fungicide to reduce the chance of disease. Protect the plants from the cold winds by putting a wind barrier around them, setting hanging baskets down and out of the wind.
In some cases, you may need to replace if the plants have sustained too much damage to recover.
