GOVERNOR INSLEE'S CHANGE OF POSITION WON'T HELP THE ENVIRONMENT
Governor Inslee announced he was withdrawing his support for the Tacoma liquefied natural gas (LNG) and Kalama methanol projects.

These industrial projects are intended to reduce global greenhouse gases by replacing far more dangerous and polluting sources of marine fuel.



RECORD SETTING YEAR FOR TOURISM IN TACOMA
According to Travel Tacoma + Pierce County, 3.35 million visitors stayed overnight last year in Pierce County, “staying a record 1.57 million room-nights and dropping a record $1.19 billion of direct spending into the Pierce County economy.”

VACANT SEATS FOR TACOMA CITY COUNCIL
In Tacoma, there are four City Council seats up for grabs: Position 1, Position 3 and At-Large Positions 7 and 8. All four seats will have a challenger.

Two of those seats are open will be filled by newcomers. Councilmen Ryan Mello, At-Large District 8, and Anders Ibsen, District 1, are vacating the council due to term limits.

The Stranger writer Charles Mudede laments about Seattle's arts scene, "We are in the midst of this extinction-level event right now in Seattle.
