Building deep and lasting relationships is the key to a lot of things in life.  At our May Professional Networking Meeting, we had a great conversation with Shawn D'Amelio (see story below), who reminded us that authentic connection to people we know and trust is important and can be satisfying. The same is true for the people you assemble to help you with your health.  If you want to connect with your doctor, nurse, or people you regularly see at the clinic you go to, what are you doing to make the connection real?  What can YOU do, to recognize and get to know the other person and help them get to know you?  Maybe you can bring them flowers from your garden.  Or a cup of coffee (doesn't everyone love that?).  Maybe you can ask them how their day is going or simply bring a smile to your conversation.  Invest in relationships, it will pay off!

Here's to your good health,

Robin

Thanks for the Great May Networking Meeting!
Thank you to Shawn D'Amelio, WASHAA Partner Member from With a Little Help (http://www.withalittlehelp.com/), who shared her wisdom and practical tips at our May Networking Meeting focused on Business Building Tactics.  If you missed Shawn's presentation, some of the highlights included:
  • Be your authentic self (ask her about peas and carrots next time you see her!)
  • Think about what you can offer to do for people before asking them to do something for you
  • Building deep connections with individual people is more than valuable than collecting business cards at networking meetings

In case you missed the National Patient Safety Conference May 7, the Washington Patient Safety Coalition, Foundation for Healthcare Quality have made the slides from presentations available:
