New Century Careers Update
MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K)
NCC is accepting applications for the tuition-free M2K Machinist Training Program.

Classes are FREE to qualified students and are offered at two locations:

  • Pittsburgh (South Side) Machinist Training - Daylight and Evening Classes
  • Eastern Westmoreland CTC Machinist Training - Evening Classes

For additional information on classes or to begin the application process, call Samara Rosenberg or Eric Pferdekamper at 412-258-6620 (option 4) or contact NCC online.
We are still recruiting for the M2K day class, but space is very limited due to
in-person restrictions. Depending on the number of students, accepted students may need to wait for the December class.

The evening program still has space available.
Congratulations to 9 M2K trainees for earning NIMS Credentials
New Century Careers is proud to announce that 9 M2K trainees recently earned a total of 18 National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials as part of the Quick Train portion of the M2K program. These credentials are recognized by manufacturers across the nation and will help the trainees when they become fully employed at a local manufacturer. Congratulations to this cohort for their outstanding achievement!
M2K Spotlight
Sean previously worked as a contractor performing residential construction and flipping houses.
“I really loved the work, but the hours made me miss a lot of time with my kids,” Sean said.

After Sean’s dad brought him home a flyer, he decided to join the M2K program.

“I have had a lot of hands-on training and experience, and the classroom instruction really gave me a great foundation and solidified my decision to become a machinist,” Sean said.

Sean accepted a position at a local company in March.

BotsIQ
This October, Southwestern Pennsylvania BotsIQ (BotsIQ) will celebrate MFG Day and promote advanced manufacturing and in-demand careers to students across the region. In partnership with local companies, BotsIQ will host virtual career panels, tours, and other activities that educate students about manufacturing.

According to a recent study by Deloitte and the Manufacturing Institute, manufacturers need to fill 4.6 million jobs by 2028. More than 2 million of these jobs could remain unfilled due to advanced technology skill requirements, misconceptions about manufacturing jobs, and the retirement of baby boomers. This shortage directly impacts Pennsylvania’s manufacturing industry, which is the eighth largest in the United States and contributes $84 billion each year to the economy.
