Summer Traditions
This weekend join us as we kick-off two long standing summer traditions: Pontiac Municipal Band will be playing their first concert of the season on Friday, May 31 and the Farmer's Market will kick-off Saturday, June 1!

Municipal Band concerts are an eight week concert series at the Humiston Riverside Band Shell. They play every Friday from May 31 through July 19 at 7:00pm. These concerts are free and open to the public but bring a lawn chair, seating is not provided. In case of rain, concerts will be held at Pontiac Township High School. Playing a variety of classic and contemporary concert band music, the Pontiac Municipal Band is one of the oldest continually formed municipal bands in the state. Top rate local musicians make these concerts a huge hit not only with Pontiac residents but also with the surrounding communities. Please note that the Friday, July 5 concert will be at the Pontiac Elk's Club from 6:30-7:15 as part of the Independence Day Celebration.

The Farmer's Market is another weekly tradition where local growers and makers sell fresh produce and some handmade items. Farmer's Markets begin June 1 and go 7:00am-11:00am (or until supplies last) through August and then 8:00am-12:00pm through October. Their weekly set up is on the North and West sides of the Courthouse Lawn (Madison St and Mill St.). You never know what other activities will be happening at the Farmer's Market; live music and lawn games are all possibilities! June 22, for example, will be Poppin' in Pontiac - a fun activity with photo opportunities, free popcorn, lawn games, and more!

Adding to the Farmer's Market this year is the Pontiac Market on the Square. Held on the Third Saturday of the month June through September (June 15, July 20, August 17, and September 21), it will feature hand crafted and vintage items from 8:00am-2:00pm on the East and South sides of the Courthouse Lawn. Mark your calendars now to attend both the Farmer's Market AND the Pontiac Market on the Square - these are two events you don't want to miss.
