The ICTR Moves Forward - A Message from the Directors
|
|
The CTSA—now funded by NIH for its third 5-year cycle—is a tribute to the people who make up the Einstein and Montefiore community of physicians, scientists, patients, and team members who are committed to making an impact on healthcare in the Bronx. What we plan in the next 5 years is aligned with a vision of
Montefiore as a learning healthcare system
, underpinned by
Einstein’s outstanding basic and translational research
. Our goals are supported by a forward-thinking leadership, including key Department chairs, Center directors, and health system executives. The ICTR’s menu of resources can be easily accessed from our new
website
, and features the following:
• Clinical Research Center Units, East and West Campuses
• Community Engagement Consultation and Collaboration
• Life Course and Special Populations Research Core
• Biomarker and Research Analytic Core
• Biorepository and Tissue Acquisition Resource
• Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design
• Pilot Project Program
• Clinical Trials Support
• Research Informatics
• Health Research Implementation Core
• Education, training, and career development and mentoring programs

The ICTR Dives into Implementation Science
|
|
The ICTR has created a new core in line with its initiatives for the next five years. The
Health Research Implementation Core
(HRIC) has been created with the mission to innovate and accelerate patient-centered health research and implementation science in the context of a learning healthcare system. The HRIC will also enhance the capacity of research results to improve health by connecting rigorous research with real-world implementation. These aims will be enabled through the Project Catalyst Collaboratory, and through efforts to build capacity for more efficient and rapid testing and translation of effective interventions in healthcare settings. The HRIC, led by Drs.
Diane McKee
and
Michael Rinke
, will work to identify opportunities to support new or existing teams conducting T3 and T4 research, serve as a vehicle to include more diverse perspectives into health research/stakeholder engagement, and establish new areas of collaboration that integrate research and clinical fields while supporting investigators as they develop interventions to implement evidence-based strategies in real world settings.

Catalytic Seed Grant Funding Now Available
|
|
The Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Einstein and Montefiore invites
faculty members
to request seed grants to generate data for the development of new extramural grant applications. Projects supported under this program must involve
clinical or translational research
. Catalytic Seed Grant projects that involve human subjects must include a plan to ensure appropriate protections of human subjects, data and safety monitoring, and scientific integrity. All projects undergo review both by the ICTR as well as by NIH, so you must submit your proposal for Einstein-Montefiore IRB review as early as possible to avoid delay in funding. Applications for seed funding must fall into one of three categories: 1) Learning Healthcare System Science; 2) Life course research and studies in special populations; or 3) Projects that build on K-series mentored career development awards.
