Redevelopment of  Former GM Plant in Delaware will Create 21st Century Jobs
ESI was commissioned by Harvey Hanna Associates, Inc. to measure the potential economic and fiscal impacts of the planned redevelopment of the former General Motors plant in Wilmington, DE. The proposed redevelopment, a business campus, will bring thousands of jobs back to the community, increase state and local tax revenues, and have a positive impact on the property value of the immediate surroundings.

ULI Philadelphia: North Rail Station TAP Report Released
ULI Philadelphia's Technical Assistance Program made recommendations for the redevelopment of the area surrounding the North Philadelphia Rail Station. ESI Principal Peter Angelides, and Senior Advisor Catherine Timko were among the expert ULI-TAP panelists.
Sports Betting Services 
ESI, along with Spectrum Gaming Group,  announced the launch of a new advisory service to assist governments and gaming operators in projecting the economic and fiscal impacts of legal sports betting.

The Philadelphia Real Estate Council, in conjunction with ESI and the Philadelphia Business Journal, have created the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Sentiment Survey . All real estate professionals are invited to provide their insight and share their experiences of industry conditions. Take the survey here .
Act 47 Recommendations Hearing
ESI's President Steve Mullin, Senior Advisor Dan Connelly and Senior Analyst Brooke Queenan  held a hearing to provide recommendations to the City of Chester under Act 47. ESI will recommend a three-year plan to Chester to exit their 'distressed' status.
2018 BUILD Applications
Applications for the 2018 BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grants Program, formerly known as TIGER, are due Thursday, July 19. ESI can help with benefit-cost analyses and the overall application process.

Lee Huang was a panelist at the International Downtown Association Town-Gown Conference in Columbus, OH, discussing the economic impacts of universities on regions. 
Senior Advisor William Krebs helped organize TriCounty SCORE's 2018 Women's Symposium, a successful event offering attendees networking opportunities and the chance to hear from exceptional speakers. 
Congratulations to Senior Advisor  Chris Dwyer  who recently joined the the Baldwin School   as their new Chief Financial Officer. And good luck to Senior Advisor  David Boonin  on his new real estate venture, I-95 Real Estate Investors, LLC.
Our Senior Advisors have been very busy in their ventures. Catherine Timko attended the ICSC RECon, the world's largest global gathering of retail real estate professionals. Robert Jaeger's WNW Hospitality Management activated three new hotels, bringing their total holdings to 21 properties in ten states. Bernie Markstein's recent work for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) found that there is a shortage of construction workers. And Greg Byrnes worked with PECO's Economic Development department ensuring Philadelphia's and Pennsylvania's involvement in the BIO International Convention in Boston this June.
On May 29, ESI Director  Andrea Mannino, Senior Analyst  Gabi Connor, and Research Assistant Karlin Ariffin guided staff members on a bike tour of some of ESI's Philadelphia projects. Afterward, a well-deserved happy hour was enjoyed at  Spruce Street Harbor Park.

The Preservation Alliance's 2018 Preservation Achievement Awards were a success. Congratulations to the awardees and thank you for keeping our region's history alive.  The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society received a $1 million gift from William H. and Nancy G. Frederick to support the organization's annual Philadelphia Flower Show. 
Harvey Hanna & Associates' redevelopment of Boxwood GM Plant in New Castle County, DE was featured in Delaware Business Now, reporting that 2,100 21st century jobs are  anticipated from the project.  Cooper's Ferry Partnership President and CEO, Kris Kolluri, was featured in an article, discussing the need to revitalize parks and urban green spaces at the Camden Environmental Summit, hosted by the Camden Collaborative Initiative (CCI). 
Arts & Crafts Holdings LLC is continuing the growth of the Spring Garden District, with properties encompassing 1.6 million square feet of space. They plan to revitalize the previously blighted warehouse district.

PA House of Representatives recently approved legislation that allows conventional or shallow-well natural gas and oil production to be regulated separately from Marcellus Shale gas production. Congratulations to the PA Grade Crude Oil Coalition on all their efforts to advance this legislation! 
Industry News

Governor Tom Wolf, with the help of PennDOT, has announced a multi-year, $8.6 million initiative to improve traffic congestion on the Schuylkill Expressway.  The new Rail Park, located in Callowhill, is set to open June 14. It is anticipated to be a three-mile linear park that will connect to various neighborhoods and provide a common space for residents to enjoy.
