Dear Center for Irish Music supporters,
This winter, we want to stay connected with you: our generous supporters, volunteers and students! The Center for Irish Music is a source of positive, creative, and life-giving energy - something we all need in the coming days and months.
As we navigate this challenging year together, we want you to know that we are here for you with Irish music programming and events. Join us! Our staff and board have wholeheartedly accepted the challenge of offering our usual calendar of events this coming year, from weekly lessons and classes, Common Tunes Session, student recitals, Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event (February 20th) and the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend.
One new initiative I'm excited to announce is the Taking Flight Collective, a pilot project created by CIM to support some of our most dedicated young musicians, and to support the creative development of future community leaders. Read more about this in the IMDA October newsletter or on CIM's education blog.
Next Friday, October 9th, we are thanking our 133 incredible volunteers with a virtual party featuring musical offerings from our instructors (and Aja too). If you haven't received an invite by email, please contact Aja at abeers@centerforirishmusic.org.
Take care, stay in touch, and don't forget to purchase some jewellery, Irish snacks or a winter sweater from Irish On Grand this Saturday, October 3rd to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Norah Rendell
Executive Artistic Director

BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATES
|
|
We want to extend a huge thank you to Teisha Magee, who is stepping down from the CIM board after 9 years of service. She served as fundraising director and Éigse Chair for several years, volunteering countless hours to the CIM during a time when the organization was experiencing exponential growth and development. Teisha & her husband Paul's four children (Sage, Caillean, Rhiannon and Connor) all took lessons at the CIM in 2007 when the school was at the Wellstone Center. - Neighbourhood House. The Magee's youngest son, Connor, graduated from high school this past June. Teisha, thank you for all you have done for CIM. We will miss you, and look forward to seeing you at future events and classes!
We all know uilleann pipers are the smartest of all Irish musicians (just kidding...kind of), which is why we are excited to announce CIM's new treasurer is Nicole Boor. Nicole has been a student at the CIM for several years under the tutelage of Tom Klein, and has lots of experience serving on nonprofit boards. She is a wealth manager with Accredited Investors Wealth Management.
Massive thanks to Greg Padden, who served as CIM's treasurer since 2014. Greg has seen the school through incredible growth and worked closely with Norah and the board to develop CIM's annual budgeting process. Greg will remain on the board as a member at large to support Nicole. Greg and his wife Lisa have been major supporters of the CIM through their volunteer involvement, moral support, unique silent auction donations, and through their wonderfully musical children, Ella and Connor. We are so happy that you are still involved at CIM!

The Center for Irish Music will be offering all Fall programs in a virtual format for the duration of the Fall term through January 31st. Please know that our dedicated instructors would much prefer to be with you at our classrooms at the Celtic Junction! However, with the safety of our intergenerational community in mind - including students, instructors, and family members - online instruction is our best option. If our leadership deems it safe to meet in person before the end of the fall term, we will share that information with you right away.
Students can expect regular communication through emails and monthly newsletters. In the meantime, our instructors will do their best to offer the highest quality learning experiences in the virtual format.
