WELL READ | BOOKS WE LOVE
Definitely Not Mr. Darcy
by Karen Doornebos

Submitted by Amanda D.
Jane Austen and The Bachelor fans can rejoice, as the modern world meets Regency England! This enjoyable light read is a perfect mix of modern and regency worlds, combining reality TV with the customs of grace, elegance and etiquette. The side splitting antics, amusing characters and modern twist makes this offering a sure hit for readers.

The Indigo Girl
by Natasha Boyd

Submitted by Terri S.
Eliza Lucas Pinckney, The Indigo Girl, was truly a young woman ahead of her time, and I loved reading about her.  Her secret methods and sheer determination in growing indigo had a major effect on the economy in the Carolina territories. This is an engrossing and very satisfying read - exactly what I look for in a good historical novel. A true page-turner for fans of The Second Mrs. Hockaday, The Widow of the South , and Charles Frazier's Varina . (Adult Fiction)

Pride and Prometheus
by John Kessel

Submitted by Donna W.
A new favorite read that is a mashup of the supposed spinster sister Mary Bennett from Austin’s romantic Pride and Prejudice and the misunderstood mad scientist Victor Frankenstein from Shelly’s dark gothic Frankenstein . Kessel does an excellent job bringing these two characters together for a highly entertaining read. (Adult Fiction)

High Voltage by Karen Marie Moning

Submitted by Donna W.
This is the 10 th book in the Moning’s dark, paranormal romance series. Dani O’Malley has lost sections of her life, born with special talents to fight the evil, she had been caged as a child, used as a weapon by a guardian and exiled off world. If you are a fan of Outlander or Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter books you will like the Fever series. Moning has built a beautifully complex world of characters and fantasy realms. The first in the series is Darkfever , but for a full understanding of the story I suggest going back to her first Beyond the Highland Mist Highlander series. (Adult Fiction)
