Georgina's 2018 Field to Table Event
On Saturday August 18th the Town of Georgina plans on hosting our first ever Field to Table event. On this day, farmers in the area who wish to participate will open their doors to the public and provide tours, samples or educational events that would attract tourism to Georgina. Similar events have been very successful
in other municipalities and we hope to match that success this year!

New 2018 York Farm Fresh Guide Map Released
Georgina is excited to announce that the York Farm Fresh 2018 Guide Map is now available. The Town of Georgina has once again partnered with neighboring municipalities, York Region and The York Farm Fresh Association in the production and distribution of the Farm Fresh promotional map.
This map lists 30 Farms, 11 Farmers' Markets and 18 Food and Fair events. Out of these 12 listings are found in Georgina consisting of 6 Farm Fresh Venues, 5 Food Events, and 1 Farmers' Market. Its purpose is to serve as a guide to uncover local farm fresh products within York Region. Maps are available at member farms, farmers' markets and municipal offices. Some of the highlights and features of this initiative include:
- Larger brochure format to replace z-card from previous years.
- New this year included on the map is a passport which gives consumers the opportunity to collect stamps from the farms listed on the map and in return have a chance to win a Thanksgiving Harvest Basket ($250 Value).

Are you an Ontario-based enterprise focused in agriculture looking for capital and opportunities to scale your business or organization? MaRS Social Venture conneXion is offering a social enterprise accelerator (SEA) program for social enterprises working in the sustainable food and agriculture sector, providing organizations with supports to develop capital raising capacity to scale their impact. Designed to increase investment readiness, the accelerator will feature an in-person intensive education program including pitch preparation with experienced experts, and an opportunity to pitch your enterprise to impact investors.

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is intended to improve a defined area within a community that has been identified as in need of revitalization. The CIP articulates a vision for Uptown Keswick, Downtown Sutton and Downtown Jackson's Point.

Economic Development Community Building Grant Application.
The objective of the grant program is to provide financial assistance for programs and events that serve to promote the Town of Georgina to markets outside Georgina, generate economic opportunities for the local business community and provide for the betterment of the Community. In order to take full advantage of the collaborative marketing efforts provided by the Economic Development & Tourism Division, applications should be submitted six (6) months prior to the event date. ! York Durham Headwaters (YDH) will once again become Ontario's Ultimate Road Trip Destination this summer! And we need your help to motivate visitors and media to our regions.
In order to effectively tell the York Durham Headwaters tourism story, we are asking our tourism businesses to:
- Ensure your events are uploaded to the YDH calendar * Send exciting images YDH can include in their advertising
- Share your unique offerings, summer menus, new product and experiences
- Send press releases to generate media interest
- Let YDH know if you want to do something new with Central Counties Tourism or other tourism partners to promote your business and area to media influencers
- Participate in YDH summer co-op advertising opportunities
- Tag YDH in your social media efforts: #visityhdh, #DiscoverON
