Maccabi Victoria receives Victorian Government History Grant
Local history groups and other organisations are set to share in further grant funding from the Andrews Labor Government for community projects that preserve and share Victoria’s history for generations to come.
In celebration of our diverse cultural history the Maccabi Sport Victorian Association , which has been linking local Jewish athletes with Israel for over 90 years, will also begin a project to celebrate Maccabi sport history online. 

‘People of the Boot - The Triumphs and Tragedy of Australian Jews in Sport’ is now available at the
 Maccabi Victoria office.
The new book tells the story of the contribution Australian Jews have made to sport on and off the field and includes interviews with Michael Klinger, Todd Greenberg, Jessica Fox, Sir Frank Lowy, David Smorgon, Larry Kestleman and many more. It is edited by Ashley Browne and Dashiel Lawrence and features contributions from leading writers and broadcasters. Ally Bild made her VFLW debut on Saturday for the biggest sporting club in Australia, Collingwood, helping knock off ladder-leaders Hawthorn – all on her 19th birthday.

  Maccabi Cycling Club Does Tassie
 We are planning a ride from Launceston to Hobart Thurs 8 to Sunday 11 November . This will be a Fully Supported ride with accommodation along the way.
 Maccabi Cycling will be subsidizing the event and allowances will be made for riders who are Shomer Shabbat. If you are interested email info@maccabicycling.com.au
 
Maccabi Young Guns Junior Cycling Program - Spots Open
Do your children have too much energy and untapped potential? The very successful Young Guns Program has vacancies for Terms 2 and 3.
With a world class coach, ex professional cyclist Alex Clements, Young Guns holds a weekly, after school session either indoors or outdoors, depending on the season.

COMMUNITY SERVICE GRANT
 
The Annual Grant is to honour the memory of the late Jenny Goldberg and to acknowledge her commitment, work, support and friendship she gave to Melbourne Mitzvah Lodge, B’nai B’rith and the Jewish Community.
Candidates may be nominated by individuals, or communal, educational, youth or sports organisations and/or other related community groups/activities.
A grant up to the value of $2,500 is offered, candidates much meet the following criteria:
·         resident in Victoria;
·          be Jewish up to 35 years of age;
·         demonstrate a commitment to community service and or volunteer involvement in areas such as: community organisations, youth groups, sports clubs, schools, universities, etc.;
·          Describe specifically how the Grant will be used to enhance the candidate’s volunteering ability and service to the community within Melbourne.

for other appropriate purposes.
·         provide the names of two referees to support the application.
