Mother May I?
"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."
~ Marcus Aurelius
"Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
~ Abraham Lincoln
"I dwell in possibility......" ~ Emily Dickinson.
As we look at the month of May, let us pause to take stock of where we are spiritually as we progress into the month of "yes, you may" as the song from musical,
Camelot
, goes.
Wouldn't it be grand if we always lived in "YES!" instead of maybe - or even worse - "I can't"?
Affirm with me, right here and now - that you know as a divine being-in-the-making, that you can do anything you set your mind on, and put your heart into. KNOW that when you allow yourself to be in the state of grace called "unlimited" you are living in "yes, I may".
As a child, I remember playing a game called, "Mother, may I?" The leader yelled out commands and before we did them we had to say, "mother, may I?". The answer we all wanted was "yes, you may".
Of course, if we did it without asking permission, we were instructed to go back to the beginning and start all over again - and the end game was to get to the finish line first (where the "mother" was standing). We felt successful, accepted and dare I say "loved" when we were allowed to be on the winning side.
We still do it as adults. We look around to see if someone is watching, judging us or accepting us - and oftentimes we will do whatever it takes to be on the "winning" side.
Every time we make a compromise to be something or someone we are not, we slip further and further into illusion - we slip further and further away from who we are and why we are here. We slip further away from living and being our authentic, magnificent selves!
This type of self-limitation is living in no - not living in yes. It is disheartening, debilitating and down-right dangerous.
Who do you think you need permission from to be yourself - to live your dream, speak your truth and in general live a life of unlimited potential in every way? Your mother - your father - your friends - your coworkers?
As metaphysicians, we KNOW this is total illusion - we don't need "permission" from any earthly source to be who we are. But this I do know - we need
the passion and the power from our highest self - our Soul Self - to be more than we ever thought we could be!
But, saying no is often the easier way out.
When we say no we can safely stay within our comfort zone. we don't have to fear failing or being rejected. The scary unknown and sometimes difficult change can be avoided.
But if we say yes - our lives can expand and deepen. The yes allows us to open up our lives to more happiness.
So let's say yes to the highest and best we can be, say yes to the idea that there is nothing as constant as change - and say yes to opening ourselves to our unlimited potentials as individuals - our unlimited potential as a spiritual family - and our unlimited potentials as a vital part of the human race in co creating a new model of what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience.
Just say YES!
