Our Service Excellence Journey Update (2014-2018)
In 2015, the City of Vaughan enhanced its approach to Service Excellence with the introduction of the Service Excellence Strategy Map. The map was developed to deliver on what we heard from citizens. 2018 Citizen Survey
Beginning June 18, the City will be conducting telephone surveys to collect input from citizens on quality of life, City services, use of tax dollars, availability of online-based services and more. Calls will be placed between 5 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., and will take approximately 12 to 15 minutes.
There is still time to nominate someone for the Order of Vaughan
This is the final call to nominate someone for the Order of Vaughan - applications are being accepted until June 15. To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must be a resident or former long-term resident of the city. 
Deryn Rizzi named new Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Chief

Following an extensive recruitment process, Deryn Rizzi has been named Chief of Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS)Chief Rizzi succeeds former Fire Chief Larry Bentley, who retired from VFRS in May 2018, following 38 years of distinguished public service. Chief Rizzi is the first woman to serve as Chief of VFRS.
The family of Sonia Meucci Liscio presented with the Ward 3 Civic Hero Award
The late Sonia Meucci Liscio, was celebrated posthumously with the Ward 3 Civic Hero Award. Ms. Liscio believed in the importance of civic engagement and grassroots activism, and was one of the original founding members of the Weston Downs Ratepayers' Association (WDRA).
Mayor Bevilacqua congratulates Ontario's new Premier
Congratulations were sent by the Mayor on behalf of Council to the Premier-designate Doug Ford and the three MPP's representing Vaughan , Stephen Lecce (King-Vaughan); Gila Martow (Thornhill); and Michael Tibollo (Vaughan-Woodbridge). "The City will continue working on behalf of our citizens to ensure the continuation of provincial investments that are critical to our shared success."

Curb Appeal nominations now open
Do you know someone who has great "curb appeal"? Nominate a homeowner or business who demonstrates exceptional pride and effort in the maintenance of their property. Nominations are open until June 22.
What's old is new again
Someone's unwanted items could be someone else's treasure. The City of Vaughan is hosting Curbside Giveaway events on June 23-24. Place gently used items on your property next to the sidewalk or curb for others to take. Unclaimed items must be removed by 5 p.m. on June 24.
June is ...Recreation, Parks and Seniors' Month
In celebration of Recreation, Parks and Seniors' month, Vaughan is offering more than 50 FREE activities for all ages at  our community centres throughout June.  Enjoy pickleball, tai chi, basketball, yoga, bocce and more. 

Environmental Days are back
Join us for our final two Environmental Days taking place at Vellore Village Community Centre on June 16 and at North Thornhill Community Centre on June 24, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Get FREE mulch, exchange your damaged City-issued blue box or recycle your electronics. 
Summer Leaf and Yard Waste Collection
Leaf and yard waste collection will be every other week, picked up on your regular garbage collection day, beginning June 19 until Oct. 19.

Piazza Tagliavini naming ceremony 
You're invited to the naming ceremony for Piazza Tagliavini on June 12 at     7 p.m.  Complimentary refreshments provided.

Coffee with a Firefighter
Join Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service at McDonald's (at 2810 Major Mackenzie Dr.) on June 15 from 10 a.m. to noon to talk with you. Have a coffee and ask them about anything from fire prevention to the fire profession.

Concerts in the Park

You're invited to the 2018 annual Concerts in the Park series. Bring your family, friends and neighbours for good fun and great tunes.
