Special Congregational Meeting for Katie
|
|
Exciting Update! Many of you know that our Family Minister Katie Kline, has been part of the candidacy process to be a rostered leader in the church. When we called her last year, it was to the role of Deacon, though Katie was still working on the approval from our synod. The time has come! She has been approved to be ordained as Deacon, assigned to Rocky Mountain Synod, and now needs to be called (again?) to Trinity.
Please join us following worship, on Sunday, October 11 at 11:30 am following worship, via Zoom, for a special congregational meeting for the purpose of voting on Katie Kline to be Deacon at Trinity. Quorum is still needed.

Congregational Ambassador for Lutheran Campus Ministry (LuMin)
|
|
Please welcome Katie Nieuwlandt, Trinity's Congregational Ambassador for LuMin. Katies's Bio:
I am a freshman at Colorado State University, studying Natural Resource Management, and am hoping to pursue a future with rangeland stewardship or rangership. Of course the Holy Spirit works in fun and mysterious ways, so I am excited to see what my actual future has in store for me. I grew up in Longmont, Colorado (about 40 mins South of Fort Collins) and grew up as part of First Evangelical Lutheran Church's congregation. I was given the amazing opportunity to grow in my leadership as a member of our church's Call Committee, Youth Council, Church Council, and Women's Ministry board. As a youth, I was also able to join and participate in the Youth Discipleship Team of the Rocky Mountain Synod (8th grade-10th grade). I love being involved in the synod, and believe that it is so awesome that our church is not a building, a person, or a place, but is actually made up of incredible people who come together to worship, praise, and serve our Lord.
I am looking forward to meeting you and hope to be able to keep you not only informed, but involved and excited about Lutheran Campus Ministry.

Black Lives Matter Banners at Trinity
|
|
|
If you have driven, biked, or stopped by at church you may have noticed two Black Lives Matter banners. In followup to the Anti-Racism Statement shared in the August Tidings from our joint Social Eco Justice committee, the Congregational leaders from all three congregations and Social Equal Justice suggested Black Lives Matter banners be placed in our church yard. There is one on Stuart Street and one facing Spring Creek Trail.
|
|
The banner designed by Yvonne Wooten, a member of Mary of Magdela, includes the Micah 6:8 passage "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God" as was referenced in the statement. The cost of the banners was donated by an anonymous donor.

As we are daily exposed to conflict and violence in our nation, and as we ourselves get caught up in our own "righteous" anger", we are called to remember that we follow a non-violent Christ and are encouraged to pray always in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. In thinking about this, our three-community Social Justice group has committed to pray intentionally for the alleviation of the violence in our country.
We invite anyone and everyone to pause, in whatever manner you choose, and pray with us on Fridays at noon starting September 4.
Suggested starting points could be one of the following from "Out of the Silence" - Jim Cotter Prayer Book)
Creator God, faithful to your covenant with the earth,
steady our hearts and wills in times of great turbulence,
that we may indeed fulfil your purpose for us
as heralds of your just and lasting peace.
(Jim Cotter Prayer Book)
Life-giver, Pain-bearer, Love-maker,
source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
loving God, in whom is heaven:
The hallowing of your name echo through the universe.
the way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world.
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings.
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom
sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today,
feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another,
forgive us.
In times of temptation and test,
strengthen us.
From trials too severe to endure,
spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil,
free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
now and forever. Amen

We want to see your HOME WORSHIP SPACE! Take a picture of you/your family unit IN your home worship space and send it to amanda@trinitylutheranfc.org. Don't worry if it is not elaborate, it can just be you in front of your computer or phone. Really this is a little excuse to see all your beautiful faces!

TLC Book group will meet on Monday, October 5, at 9:30 am via Zoom to discuss The Cross and the Lynching Tree by theologian James Cone, in which he focuses on the two most emotionally charged symbols of the African America community. Bishop Gonia is encouraging churches in our synod to focus on the issue of systemic racism, so perhaps this book is a small first step. Watch for the Zoom link in the weekly email that lists "This Week's Virtual Schedule" and join us for discussion. Questions? Call Nadine at 970-825-3730.

When does weather cancel church?
Trinity does not have an official cancellation policy, but the rule of the thumb that leadership has agreed upon is that weekly church events will be canceled when Poudre School District delays or cancels events. On the weekends, worship will not be canceled. As always, use your best judgment in poor weather conditions, and know that you are still loved by God if you miss Bible Study, Choir, or Worship. We will post cancellations to our website, facebook page, and a mass email to all of you.
