"Time to Go"
Exodus 3: 9 - 10 ; 5: 1 - 2

9 The cry of the Israelites has now come to me; I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them. 10 So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.”

5 Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go, so that they may celebrate a festival to me in the wilderness.’” 2 But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should heed him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.”

Children's Moment
Today during worship, we celebrate the presentation of Bibles to our three year old and third grade children!

Bibles are not meant to be kept safe, high on a shelf. They are meant to be carried with you on your life journeys. A well loved and explored Bible has frayed edges, markings of your favorite scriptures, notes along the margins and bruised covers. YOU are God's GREATEST creation and within those covers you will discover how much you are loved! So dig in!
Parents and Grandparents, do you still have the first Bible you ever received or one that is a little extra special?
Share that story with your children!
What is your favorite Bible story?
Pray
Dear God, Thank you for the Bible and for the many stories within that teach us BIG life lessons and BIG love! Amen!

Avondale Pounding for
Katy LeGrand and Stephen Hill

Member Care is organizing a baking pantry "pounding" for Katy LeGrand and Stephen Hill. Katy and Stephen plan to take the Next Steps Class to join our church the next time it is offered. Although they are quite new to Avondale, the idea is for our church family to show our love and support with a pounding surprise to celebrate their engagement and upcoming wedding on November 12. Reverend Jim Ewing will officiate their wedding!
Help us fill a baking pantry for Katy and Stephen. Items to be dropped off in the bin at the FLC breezeway on or before Wednesday, November 4! See the link below for a list of pounding items!
If you know of any member concerns or needs, please email Jim.

Gleaning with Avondale
You've heard of pumpkin patches--but what about watermelons, sweet potatoes, or turnips? Avondale periodically has the opportunity to do gleaning--where farmers make the leftovers in their fields available for the poor and hungry. This is a practice that has existed since Biblical times (see, for example, the book of Ruth). And it's a great way to get the whole family out of the house to see some of our North Carolina farms in a safe, socially distanced way. Opportunities arise somewhat randomly, but if you'd like to participate when they do, drop a line to Rich Worf and Harry Greyard and we'll put you on the list!
