Election results for the city’s May 4 General Election have been canvassed and posted on the city's website. Judge Kevin Madison will issue oaths of office to newly elected councilmembers Doug Howell, Sanjeev Kumar and Gretchen Vance along with Mayor Cox for her second term at the May 20 city council meeting.

Disposal fee changes start July 1
City staff received a petition for a rate increase from Waste Connections Inc. due to an unusual change regarding the diminished value of recyclables. The rate for solid waste service will change from $21.40 to $22.14, which equals a .74 cent increase per month per residence. This rate change will become effective on July 1. Code of ethics overhauled
The city council considered recommendations from the Board of Ethics that included proposed amendments to the City Code of Ethics at their May 15 meeting. Council commended the months of work from the board and directed the City Attorney to draft the council’s recommended changes for final approval at the May 20 council meeting. The proposed ordinance is included in the city council packet on the city’s archive page .
We are pleased to announce that Shereen Gendy has accepted the position of Finance Director for the City of Lakeway and is scheduled to start mid-June. Shereen graduated from Cairo University in Egypt with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and went on to earn her Master of Science in Accounting at the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to accepting this position, she served as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Colleyville, TX. Shereen brings 20 years of experience in governmental accounting with her and is a certified public accountant. Her proven track record of success will be invaluable in meeting departmental goals and serving the residents of Lakeway. We are confident that Shereen will be an excellent match for this position and a strong asset to the city. 
Summer is just around the corner and tomorrow, May 18, is our Summer Kick-Off Party! If you are looking for activities and day camps in the Lakeway area, then please join us at our special event from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Activity Center (105 Cross Creek). This event will familiarize children and their parents with the classes and camps that are being offered over the summer. A special mobile petting zoo from Tiny Tails To You will be set up in the ballroom. Around the perimeter of the room, tables full of instructors will offer hands-on introductions to their classes. Try them out and take the opportunity to sign up for classes!
