Detroit Vocalist and ASCAP award winning composer Kathy Kosins, is one of the nations most hidden treasures in music today and considered "the real deal," by press and peers alike. Her eclectic musical palette delves deep into the rich history of both Jazz and Soul. Over two decades and five albums under her belt, Kosins circled back to her soul-infused roots, incollaboration with producer/arranger Kamau Kenyatta, (the stellar longtime producer of Gregory Porter), for her 6th release, "UNCOVERED SOUL." Kosins signature smoky voice is in prime form and takeslisteners on a dynamic musical journey through the sonic landscape of her native Detroit through the 1960's and 1970's.
Straight Ahead's founding members, the "Rhythm Sisters" (Marion Hayden on bass, Aleena Orr on piano and Gayelyn McKinney on drums), are joined by special guest John Douglas on trumpet and Yancy on saxophone. These Grammy-nominated artists have traveled throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Europe, garnering rave reviews. Their dynamic live performances are a celebration of power and joy.
Guitarist Ron English is a well-respected member of Detroit's music community. He has helped shape contemporary Jazz styles since the 1960's with a diverse repertoire covering Jazz , Blues, Avant-garde, Motown, Soul/Funk and Gospel.
