YOU CAN BE AN EDEN AMBASSADOR

HELP CONNECT NEW FAMILIES TO THE EDEN COMMUNITY

The School Year Ambassador Program welcomes and connects new families to Eden and will kick-off with a Welcome Coffee at Berkeley Hills and Wexford.

As an Ambassador, you will:
  • Be paired with a family that is new to Eden (contact information will be emailed to you during the first week of August)
  • Attend the Welcome Coffee at your campus (excluding Mt. Nebo)
  • Reach out to your assigned new family during the year to invite them to school events and serve as a resource
  • Earn volunteer hours

We are looking for Ambassadors to represent all grades at all three campuses. If you’re interested in being an Eden Ambassador, click below.

STUDENTS BRIGHTENED THE DAY FOR RESIDENTS
Earlier this month, a group of students in NHS and NJHS visited St. Barnabas Arbors to brighten the day for the residents by playing Hangman and Wheel of Fortune.

Thank you Leah Howard, Kyalie Mizerak, Rebekah McBrayer, Ally Forbes, Chase Mizerak, David Kettel, and Nate Gray for bringing encouragement and smiles!

Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.

GirlGov ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Women and Girls Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 GirlGov program.

GirlGov, created by teen women for teen women, provides the opportunity to learn first-hand about civics, youth advocacy, and leadership . The program will kick off this fall with a local retreat in September where participants will meet other young women from southwestern Pennsylvania who share their interest and passion for change. Together they will meet and learn from local female community leaders and elected officials. Throughout the programming year, participants will meet twice a month to conceptualize and build their own social action campaigns. The program concludes with a trip to Harrisburg in late spring. During this trip, participants will shadow a state legislator and learn about current public policy issues impacting women and girls in our region.

The program is open to all girls entering 9th to 12th grade in the fall of 2019 who live in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, Beaver, Butler and Westmoreland counties . There is no fee to participate. Transportation to and from GirlGov meetings, however, is the participant’s responsibility.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  • Attend weekend retreats & monthly meetings with girls from across southwestern PA
  • Interact directly with state and local elected officials
  • Create and build their own social action campaigns
  • Shadow their state legislator at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg
  • Explore nonprofit and government sector career options
  • Discuss issues affecting women and girls with leaders from the social, corporate, and public sector
  • Become (more) involved in community civics

Learn more or apply at  www.GirlGov.org by May 31, 2019.
