October 26, 2020

Dear day student parents and guardians,

As a follow up to Dr. Bertin's email of last week, I wanted to clarify the process for becoming a boarder for the remaining weeks of the semester. If your child would like to board, he/she would need to do the following:

  • Get a COVID-19 test at Cushing tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, at the end of the school day.
  • Quarantine at home and participate as a remote learner until we receive the result of that test.
  • Come to campus for a COVID-19 test (likely on Friday) and go directly into quarantine on campus.
  • Once the second test result is back and is negative, he/she can move into the dorm.

As Dr. Bertin's email indicated, the number of cases in Massachusetts is rising. It was therefore suggested out of an abundance of caution that we may need to have off-campus day students participate remotely should the upward trend continue. While we understand that this created some uncertainty, we felt we should alert you to the possibility and offer a boarding spot if that might be of interest.

Given that there are only four weeks left in the semester, you would need to decide this week and complete the above steps starting tomorrow, October 27, or Tuesday, November 3. After that date, should the decision be made for day students to become fully remote, we will no longer offer a boarding spot for the remainder of the term.

Additionally, with COVID-19 numbers on the rise in our area, please remember to keep our entire community's safety a top priority and minimize potential exposure when your child is not on campus. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we finish out the remaining weeks of the term.

If you would like your child to become a boarder, please call me at 978-827-7300 to discuss the process.

Sincerely,
Catherine
