The Masonry Society's 2nd-Thursday-of-the-Month Webinar Series continues on April 9th at 1 PM ET with What's New in LEED  v4.1 - A Focus on Masonry.   Christine A. Subasic, P.E., LEED AP will summa rize the changes in LEED v 4.1 with a focus on those changes that are most likely of interest to the masonry industry

If you're involved with the evaluation, repair, rehabilitation, or restoration of masonry, TMS's Existing Masonry Committee is where you should be. Robb Haukohl of Raths, Raths & Johnson, Inc. chairs this committee, offering fun and informal "show and tell sessions" during meetings. The committee has a busy work schedule, including ongoing development of the popular "Guide for Maintenance of Masonry Facades", while offering a variety of educational sessions at TMS's Annual Meeting, the upcoming Structures Congress in April, and many other forums. Speakers and topics are sought for several venues:

• Webinars. TMS is seeking excellent presentations for our "2nd Thursday of the month" webinar series this fall and next spring. Current topics under consideration are Lap Splice Length for Reinforcement in Masonry by Ed Huston, and perhaps another few webinars on the popular topic of Masonry Testing. Other topics that can be presented in 1 hour are sought. Speakers for these webinars are paid $600.
   
• TMS Annual Meeting. TMS is soliciting excellent speakers and topics for presentation at our Annual Meeting in Denver Colorado.  Presentations will be given on the morning of October 15 and are to be from 15 to 20 minutes in length. 
   
• 2021 Structures Congress. TMS is also considering offering presentations for the 2021 Structures Congress, which will be held in Seattle Washington on March 10-13, 2021. Typical length is 20 minutes, but if you would like to propose another length, so note your preference. 

For all these presentation opportunities, the p resentations must not be promotional and should be of interest to those wishing to learn more about the design, construction, evaluation, or repair of masonry. A selection committee will consider proposals and will notify accepted presenters this spring or Summer.

Registration is open for the  2020 Structures Congress that will be held in St. Louis. Missouri from April 5-8. The Masonry Society is again serving as a Cooperating organization for the Structures Congress, and will present the following session on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 1:30 until 3 pm.

The Structures Congress is typically attended by more than 1200 engineers, exhibitors, and sponsors and includes dozens of sessions. We hope to see you there and we hope you will attend the TMS session!

Philippe Ledent joined the Masonry Institute of Michigan as the next Executive Director and Structural Engineer. The current Executive Director, Dan Zechmeister, will be retiring at the end of 2020. Ledent serves on TMS 402/602 Masonry Code and Specification as a voting member on the Design and Structural Elements Subcommittee. Ledent has also recently become the Chair of TMS's BIM-M committee. 

Sergio M. Alcocer, FACI, was honored by the Mexico Nmiheast Chapter-ACI with the Raymundo Rivera-Villaneal Award, which recognizes his significant contributions to teaching and research on the proper use of concrete. Alcocer is Research Professor at the Institute of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Mexico City, Mexico.

To forward TMS emails, E-Newsletter, and Announcements that are sent via Constant Contact, use the Forward button at the bottom of the newsletters to ensure that if one of your contacts hits the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom, that they don't unsubscribe you. The problem with the Forward button though is that it only allows you to Forward to a limited number of email addresses (7). For longer lists, you may have to do this several times. Alternatively, you could Forward the email with a personal note at the top, explaining that if they do not wish to receive the TMS forwarded messages from you, that they contact you directly to be removed from your particular email list.
