The CVB is now accepting applications for the FY20 Sports Grant. Any Des Moines County nonprofessional sporting event that attracts participants and spectators from outside an 
80-mile radius is eligible to apply for the grant. Events must take place between 
J uly 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020. Applications and a copy of the grant guidelines can be found at GreaterBurlington.com . Applications are reviewed by the Greater Burlington Sports Commission. Selected partners are included on the Convention & Visitors Bureau's application for funding to the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Awards will be announced in September. Applications are due to Chelsea Lerud  today, May 17, at 5 PM.
It's time again to beautify downtown Burlington! Interested people of all ages are invited to help Downtown Partners plant flowers tomorrow at 9 AM. Catch the excitement of the 37th annual Snake Alley Criterium on Memorial Day weekend! The fun begins on Friday afternoon, May 24 with the Burlington Road Races. The Criterium races begin at 8:30 Saturday morning in downtown Burlington, with the final Category 1/2/Pro race at 3:40 PM. Burlington RAGBRAI
What: The Burlington RAGBRAI Housing committee is looking for local residents interested in hosting RAGBRAI riders in their home for the evening of Friday, July 26. Hosts are only expected to provide a place for riders to rest their heads for the night. This space can either be provided inside or outside. Local housing hosts are not required to entertain guests or provide them with amenities. Hosts are not required to transport or feed the riders.  The committee will begin placing riders with hosts after May 1.

What:  The Burlington Municipal Band will begin its 92nd season with a matinee "Season Kickoff" concert. The concert will be a fundraiser and, unlike all of the regular concerts in the park which are free, there will be a nominal $5 per person admission charge with the proceeds divided between the Muni Band and the Capitol Theater. The concert will be conducted by Jim Priebe and will feature music with appeal for all ages.
