LEADERSHIP DURING COVID-19
The Human Spirit Prevails to
Create New Rituals
"Early in the pandemic we were all learning about how to use technology and our focus was Microsoft Teams. We began a chat back in April named ITC Staff Highlight of the Day. It has been amazing! So far 43 of our staff members have taken a day and posted in this chat. They share pictures, video, recipes, stories, songs and personal histories. They have been so creative! It has been so much fun to learn about staff and find out how much we have in common and how differences in our experiences have shaped our lives! People comment on the posts and share their own experiences and ideas that the person’s story has brought to them."

What acts of humanity have you experienced or observed during these COVID-19 months?

COVID-19 came upon us, unanticipated, without planning and unimagined by all who were not scientists and medical doctors. Children were unexpectedly required to be home schooled by parents who were either suddenly unemployed or working from home while hoping to keep their children learning. Early Intervention services quickly went to Zoom, Doxy or via phone.

FUN-FACT: 1949
In the midst of the polio epidemic--a disease that placed tens of thousands of children inside iron lungs, and many thousands more around the country quarantined at home--a young San Diego schoolteacher named Eleanor Abbott invented Candy Land, one of the most popular board games of all time.
