Civic Association Presents Check to Council for 75th Anniversary Gift

Palm Beach Civic Association President Ned Barnes and Beautification Committee Chairman John David Corey, a Civic Association Director, presented a check to the Town Council Tuesday for $112,500 that will be used to purchase 75 coconut palms for the town.

Palm Beach Agrees to Contribute $12K for July 4th Fireworks in
West Palm Beach
Despite objections from two residents, the  Town Council on Tuesday donated $12,000 to West Palm Beach to help pay for its July 4 fireworks display.
Mayor Gail Coniglio said the town wants to be a good neighbor to the city and that town residents enjoy the 4th on Flagler display.
"I think a huge number of people in the North End relish the fireworks and stand on the north [Flagler] bridge and enjoy it," Coniglio said.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed a bill Friday aimed at prohibiting local governments from banning single-use plastic straws for five years. In a letter, DeSantis says that while HB 771 originally addressed issues of contaminated recyclable materials, a moratorium was added on banning local regulation of plastic straws until 2024.
