Summer Camp at Gateway

For the third year in a row, Arizona Autism United is excited to partner with Gateway Academy to bring you our Summer Social Camp - an adventurous and captivating summer filled with social opportunities! Led by our team of Speech Therapists, this year's camp will include fun activities such as cooking, art and science. Campers will enjoy working towards social skills, team building, and problem solving. 

Students will be grouped by similar age levels, from 5th through 10th grade. There will be two sessions (2 weeks each) in June.  

Gateway's participant criteria include the following:
  • Seeking a college preparatory curriculum with academic/social/emotional development. 
  • Categorized as academically bright and may have one or more of the following diagnoses: Asperger Syndrome or Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder; ADHD/ADD; Anxiety; Depression.
  • No significant behavior problems or aggression requiring the use of physical interventions or intensive 1:1 attention.

Community Training for Parents and Professionals
 

Arizona Autism United will be hosting two FREE trainings on Tuesday, June 4. The trainings will be held at our office and will be held from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Join us as we discuss Accessing Services and Navigating Systems of Care. Participants will learn about the different systems of care, services available and advocacy. Individuals with autism can receive services from different funding sources at various stages of their lives. 

We will also be discussing Preparing for Individual Support Plan (ISP) Meetings. Participants will learn how to prepare for meetings with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to ensure services will meet the needs of the child.

Upcoming Training Seminar: The Fundamentals of ABA

Join us on Saturday, July 20 at the Ability 360 Center to learn about The Fundamentals of ABA for Children with Autism.

This seminar is recommended for all parents and professionals helping children with autism. The class discusses the common features and needs of children on the autism spectrum and strategies for success to teach new skills and increase positive behaviors.

Meet your presenter:
Dr. Ehren Werntz , BCBA is the Clinical Director for Family and Community Services at Arizona Autism United. Ehren is a behavior analyst who has worked with families affected by autism and related behavioral disorders since 2000. He has extensive experience developing and overseeing special education and a variety of ABA programs. In recent years, with the help of his team, Ehren's work has focused on the treatment of challenging behavior, parent training, and helping families work together to improve long term health and vitality. 

The registration fee for this seminar is $25.

The offices of AZA United will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.





Upcoming Events

Join us on Saturday, June 1st for our next Sibshops event! The event will take place from 10am to noon at the offices of AZA United. Sibshops are intended for sibs 7-14 years old. Registration is required.
