A nominee can be an individual, business, organization or agency residing or located in the state of Mississippi which has made sustained and significant efforts to ensure the rights of Mississippi's children with disabilities to a free, inclusive, appropriate public education are protected and advanced. They serve as an inspiration to others through their persistence to achieve excellence in education under IDEA law. Their efforts may have been as volunteers, self-advocates, or as part of their professional activities.
A nominee can be an individual, business, organization or agency residing or located in the state of Mississippi which has made sustained and significant efforts to obtain full accessibility, non-discrimination and civil rights for all people with disabilities in Mississippi as mandated by the ADA. They serve as an inspiration to others through their persistence to achieve excellence under ADA law. Their efforts may have been as volunteers, self-advocates, or as part of their professional activities.

WRAPPING AROUND THE MISSISSIPPI WRAPAROUND INSTITUTE
|
We recently embedded one of our family partners, Coreaner Price, into the Mississippi Wraparound Institute. Coreaner is assisting with Wraparound training and giving feedback on how to ensure Wraparound stays family-driven. She is also helping our staff better understand all of they ways Wraparound can be used to support families and children.
Feedback from trainees has been very positive so far. We look forward to this partnership growing and leading to even more opportunities, including enhancing the curricula of both partners and the possibility of partnering on research about Wraparound.

MOLINA COMMUNITY
BABY SHOWER
On Thursday, March 21st we participated in Molina Healthcare's Community Baby Shower at the Jackson Medical Mall. The goal of the Molina event was to "provide expectant mothers and families with a wealth of knowledge and tools that they can use for a lifetime and share with other friends and family members".
More than 125 expectant or new mothers attended and approximately 300 people participated in the event, including moms, dads and grandparents. We were able to talk to many of them about what kind of support and information they would like to have as young parents and got their opinions about what outreach materials they thought would be most helpful.
Henry Moore, our director of family-driven practice, shared how Families as Allies partners with families of young children and demonstrated a developmental wheel that helps families know if their babies' development is on target.
We appreciate Molina inviting us to participate in this well organized event, and we hope to continue the relationship with the moms, dads and caregivers we met there.

SYSTEM OF CARE PARTNERSHIPS WITH
THE DEPARTMENT OF
MENTAL HEALTH
We are delighted to be partnering with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health on its latest System of Care Project. We will be supporting the project in being family-driven and providing ongoing technical assistance to providers and families in family-driven practice. We recently kicked off the partnership by providing introductory training to sites in Meridian and Hattiesburg.

FAMILIES AS ALLIES
CONDUCTS CERTIFIED PARENT PEER SUPPORT TRAINING
|
On March 21 and 22, we trained nine more parents to provide peer support to other parents. We congratulate everyone who completed the training and look forward to continuing to support you! We are excited to be updating the curriculum to be more comprehensive and offer ongoing support and coaching to parent peer support specialists throughout the state.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOY HOGGE NAMED ONE OF MISSISSIPPI BUSINESS JOURNAL'S TOP 50 CEOS
Every year the Mississippi Business Journal names the top 50 CEOs in the state of Mississippi. This year our own executive director, Joy Hogge, was named to this
prestigious list, joining 6 other women who were named to the list.
