INVITATION TO A STEWARDSHIP CONVERSATION
Greetings all,
I invite you to join Rev. Ellie Johns-Kelly and me for a Conversation on Stewardship in Changing and Challenging times, Sunday, January 6
th
, from 3:00 to 4:30, at the Ewing Presbyterian Church. Ellie will be joining the Ewing and Covenant congregations in our combined worship that Sunday morning, preaching as the Ewing Church begins its Season of Stewardship.
Come join in this opportunity to share your thoughts, your ideas, your frustrations, over creating financially sustainable congregational life, and building gracious generosity among the members and friends of the congregations we serve.
Ellie Johns-Kelly serves the Presbyterian Foundation as the Ministry Relations Officer of the Northeast Region. She has worked with a number of the congregations in New Brunswick and surrounding presbyteries to create cultures of generosity. Her top priority is building relationships and resourcing churches to help them increase funding for their ministries.
I have served as the Transitional Pastor at Ewing Presbyterian Church for five years, and have worked with congregations in the midst of leadership change, cultural change, and financial challenge for 30 years. I look forward to sharing lessons learned from you with those I will be teaching as part of our denomination’s Transitional Ministry Education.
Come join us for an informal conversation; a chance to share ideas; learn about resources; and find partners in facing the very real challenges of church finances in these time.
Please let me know if you, or people from your congregation will be joining us so that we can provide you with refreshments.
Yours in Christ’s service
Paul Rhebergen

"ZOOM" MEETING ABOUT STATISTICAL REPORTS
From Kris Valerius, OGA Manager of Denominational Rolls and Statistics, & Assistant Stated Clerk:
"One of the things I strive for in my job is to provide mid councils with the tools they need to do their job as fluidly as possible. When I think about how things have changed from 10 or 20 years ago, the requirements have not changed but technology has allowed us to do things more efficiently and with a whole lot less paper.
Beginning in 2019, I will begin Conversations with Kris. These will be scheduled Zoom meetings on a variety of topics. I anticipate hosting these every couple of months.

SEEKING MEDICAL HELP/ADVICE
The following is an email from Rev. Osbert James, moderator and minister of the Presbyterian Church in Grenada, received by a member of the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church. Our Bound Brook Church congregation knows him from the mission trips they’ve done in Grenada. Rev. James is asking for advice/help about having a biopsy in NY for suspected lymphoma. If anyone knows of oncologists, facilities, or whatever, please
to email Ted Settle.
This is Osbert James in Grenada. How are you? I am writing because I am seeking some help for myself and wonder if anyone in your churches or Presbytery can help or point me to help. I have just had blood tests and a CAT Scan done and there is a suspicion that I might have Lymphoma. My doctor suggests that I go to New York, where I have family, to get a biopsy done. I do not know if there are any oncologists in Presbyteries around who might be able to help me in this situation. This is just me clutching on straws hoping one will hold me up. If an announcement in church or so can be made, someone may respond. I arrive in New York on January 6, 2019. I would understand if this is not
something you can do.
