CHATT Update
Members of the Trails community came together on May 8 to begin discussions on common interests and working together to put a project plan in place. The discussion was based upon the notes and feedback obtained at the April 10 Trails meeting.

The group had agreement on an appropriate project given the common interests identified and the feedback; the development of a cycling touring route on secondary roads throughout Dufferin. The tour would link local trails and businesses and places of interest. Discussions and identification of project components will continue at the next meeting on May 29.

Project steps identified thus far:
  • Determination of route
  • Mapping of current assets
  • Identify partnerships and funding sources
Interested parties are always welcome. If you’d like to join in this activity, please let us know!
Farm to School - Community Impact
For over 4 years, Farm to School programs have had the following impacts in the schools and communities of Dufferin County and the Town of Caledon:
  • Local Food Club - our successful, "local meal in a bag" program, currently serving 11 schools and packing 150 bags of hyper-local produce monthly from September to June. We have purchased over $65,000 of locally sourced produce, and strengthened farm to home connections with the recipe and food/food supplier information card that goes home in each Local Food Club pack.
  • Farm to School - we have financially supported a roster of 9 local farmers to visit classrooms to promote local food and farming. In total we have visited 20 schools and impacted over 600 children.
  • Family Food Classes - bring together families, farmers, dietitians and chefs to promote healthy cooking with in-season, locally sourced food. We have hosted over 12 Family Food Classes that have impacted over 200 community members.
Our programs are dependent on the support of our community. Please show your support by attending a fabulous fundraising dinner at Fiddle Foot Farm.
