A Note From Pastor Linda
"I AM the true vine... Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me." ~Jesus from John 15
I missed being with you last week. Cancelling worship is HUGE for church... HUGE not because we miss an offering (although missing a week of offering hurts your community- every dollar that is missed makes an impact on our shared work)- but HUGE because we miss an opportunity to be together face to face, making connections, having conversations, laughing and crying together. HUGE because worship is a community event... and most of us stayed home. Pastor Jen did a great job of connecting with us on FaceBook- but for me it was not enough!
Take a look at this TEDTalk by Sherry Turkle, entitled, "Connected, But Alone?".
Turkle is a great one to raise these questions, as she was one of the early adopters and promoters of the internet's capacity to help us connect with each other. A dozen years later, she's asking what kind of connections they're helping us make.
Sherry speaks about the necessity of making real connections- and making REAL connections is what CHURCH is all about- COMMUNITY!
Sherry also speaks about the need for SOLITUDE- and I believe that it is in deep solitude that we become more aware of the Spirit's presence. I think that is why I so value my YOGA practice- it is a time for me to BE STILL and let God get to me!! It is a time of deep abiding- that bears fruit in community.
This week Hosanna bears fruit, creating community as we open up our doors to host the Lakes Area Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. There is still a need- and room for you to pack-

Blessing of the Car Keys: Leaping Into Independence
Wednesday, April 18
6:00 pm
Garden Chapel during worship
(Ages 15+)
The Blessing of the Keys is one more way the faith community is helping to instruct and lead our youth. This milestone is open to all youth who have received their permit or driver's license in the last year.
Everyone knows a whole new world opens up for families when a child receives their driver's license. New expectations, new privileges, new freedoms, and new worries all come into play. What better time to come together as a family to talk through the new expectations and privileges, as well as pray and ask for guidance.
Contact Pr. Jen if you are interested in participating in this blessing.

High School Graduation Recognition Sunday
Sunday, May 20, 2018
at the 10:30am Worship Service
When our children were young we brought them to the font to begin a new adventure. Now as they are leaving on yet another journey, we bring them back to the font to be blessed and sent forth. As we bless each graduate they will receive a special blanket created by our quilters, tied by peers in confirmation to remind them that wherever they lay their head, God and the prayers of their home church go with them. Then all family and friends of graduates will be invited to lay hands upon these young adults. To conclude and commemorate this event a class picture will be taken after service. Please fill out a Graduate Recognition form
here. Contact Pastor Jen with questions.
